theres nothing else...i just keep everything well organized...keep samples on a seperate hard drive ( a fast one)...and every week or so i use Fixit to defrag, virus scan and all that junk....also use Spyboy Search and Destroy to scan for AdWare...it could be running off your RAM and thats not good...thats about all i can think of.peace.

U could always overclock it, as long as u have a good enough cooling system.
hey cheggy
I solved this prob by just getting another computer with nothing but music on it. No MS word, no virus scans, no internet connection. It runs like a dream.

thx... The music only comp sounds like a realy good idea, wish i had the money

What is overclock ?!
DJ Sound

or you create another primary bootable partition on your hd, and install a music-only OS. i did it that way, got one system for work (WIN98SE), one for games (WIN98SE) and another one for music (WIN2k).
this works great, i can use my ASIO drivers for music, but on the other hand i can optimize my 'game' system with the latest 3D Audio drivers, Detonators and stuff.

overclocking is when you crank up the speed of the processor (mhz/ghz)

it can be done in many different ways depending on CPU-brand, mainboard and so on but one way that almost always works on todays computer is overclocking in BIOS

check in your BIOS or BIOS manual on how to do this...

overclocking is a perfect way to get the performance better but if you do it wrong you will instead end up with a burnt processor so make shure you have cooling enough for this...

mainrule I would say is...if you ain't got watercooling on your comp. you won't be able to gain enough performance to make it worth the time and effort in OC'ing...

I myself have a thumbrule about performance and stuff like that...why change it if it works :)

if you ain't got problems with performance than there's really no need to try and crank the performance up more than you already have :)

ya.. but i got problems with performance ..

Now i have p4 1.4 and 384 ram .. I wanna upgrade 2 p4 2.2 and 700+ ram .. I hope that will help with all the overlodes i get with cubase

coby u dont need more, im producing on a 233 mhz and 96 ram, and u have heard my productioons... just do bounce to loops and learn how to use the less cpu plugs...

Vizay
I agree with vortex....that machine you got there is well enough to produce music....it's just a matter of how you use your gear :)
DJ Sound
the more cpu power and ram you have , the less you have to bounce (which annoys me and takes time) ...so of course the more powerful the better....but you are right...with your current config. you can make tunes...just takes more time. late
