| Does anyone know what happend to acid techno producers like Baby Doc, Jon the Dentist, Commander Tom and Choci? Seems like they have completely faded out of the scene. |

jon the dentist closed his fabulous acidcore/acid tec label "boscaland" and now makes ultra-cheesy trancy under various names. i think his second, more-lucrative-due-to-a-huge-cheese-factor label "bosca beats" is still alive, too.
commander tom NEVER made acid techno. he used to produce acid trance under the names "mandala" & "nexus 6" but his latest works were plain boring and absolutely unoriginal.
choci's style is acid hardhouse/acid trance. he rarely makes proper acid techno. as far as i know, his "choci's chewns" label (and all its sublabels) is still active. it's just that its releases are not as frequent any more.
baby doc i don't know anything about... |

The fact is that most producers seem to have ditched acid techno after 1999, and acid trance evolved to other sub-genres (such as nu-nrg). That's why you don't hear much about acid stuff. Nevertheless, you can't say the genre is dead because some of its elements are still being used by trance and techno producers... the sound is just a bit different from what it used to be ;)
Acid Junkie, feel free to correct any mistake I might've made :D |

| well, acid techno still exists, though in a considerably different form. the formula for today's acid tec sound is "less acid, more percusions." it became less acid-oriented, so to speak, which is best seen in mcaffer's latest productions, such as ' war', 'puff in me sock', his remix of 'serious mind', etc. also the routemaster that used to be a 99% acid techno label with none or little acid trance influence now releases techno trax that can be described as tribal/funky tech with a touch of acid. the thing is that today's acid tec productions do not rely upon the 303 in the same degree as they did only a couple of years ago. another good example of what today's acid techno sounds like is adam beyer's remix of pump panel's 'ego acid'. it is acid and it is techno... but it's not the same acid techno that was so common until recently. |

| I thought Jon the Dentist was producing under the lable 'Truelove' or am I wrong? Can't remember seem to get too mixed up these days. Baby Doc was more to the hard house / nu nrg style. His sound was similar to Mrs Wood and Blu Peter. I'll try to upload some of his stuff later on if possible. |

By The Way, this is the dominant style here in my country... at least in the RAVES...
It's a shame that Trance isn't as popular as techno here... |
