Its a very edited RAVE Act. the name RAVE was even dropped from the whole thing. It also took out a bunch of key parts of the Rave Act, like Glowsticks and Water being drug paraphernalia.

Its definitely not as heavy hitting as the original form of the Act, but it will still have an effect if it is not appealed. It should go into the appellate soon, but we have no idea how that will go.

I think the legislative branch of the govt is a ing joke. How could you throw like 5 completely random ass things into 1 bill. I can see why it passed. Because Amber Alert is something a lot of people like. So they're like, hey lets throw in this drug in events thing at the same time.

There should be a ing bill that amends the constitution saying all bills must have information pertinent to the key point of that bill.

Everyone should do what they can to make the appeal go through. I've already e-mailed both of the maryland senators. It really will help to do your part.

That's yet to be determined.

I think this post is old, because I thought it already passed the senate?? Not sure. I expect gestapo tactics to ensue. :( :sadgreen:

Not sure if it still needs to be signed by the president or not. But when it is (sure it will be) it will be appealed.

Also, PatMcGroin, It basically means, that if there is drug use at any events (even outside of clubbing), they hold the promoters and owners responsible for it happening. They can give upwards of a $250,000 fine too. Its ridiculous. In the older version of the rave act, water and glowsticks were considered drug paraphernalia. It was ridiculous. they seemed to be focusing on electronic music. But now its more generalized, we still will feel the bulk of the damage from this.

yeah it needs to be signed by the president and since it is attached to the national amber alert plan it will be passed

Here in Canada, we rarely hear of Omnibus legislation like this. It's usually a bunch of minor spending initiatives, instead of things getting tagged on to 'Motherhood and Apple pie' bills.

Good luck and keep fighting. It's a battle for a culture, remember that.

you American-resident people should fight this as much as possible.

It's not an anti-drug thing, its a anti-culture thing. Tagging huge fines and charges on promoters/owners/patrons is not going to scare people into not doing drugs.

You want to solve drug problems? You improve the economy and create jobs. In turn, you do something about the poverty. And the USA is more than capable of providing free healthcare (just take a fraction of the ing military budget...)

Really, all thats gonna happen is promoters will be discouraged from promoting parties, and therefore there will be fewer parties. So in turn, instead of Anonymous Bob going to a party and getting ed up to the point of passing out with friends... he is gonna stay home alone and get ed up. And I think the number of drug-related deaths with go up.
