| Does anybody find this, that when they are looking for a really hard to find tune, it's great when you fianally find the a store that stocks it. but when you get it on the turntables, you've heard the sample that many times it just doesn't seem all that special any more and it goes straight to the back of the pile. |

| What usually happens with me is I'll be looking for a certain track that I heard maybe once or twice but don't know the name of it and I'll find it (usually by accident) and realize (after I buy it and slap it on the decks) that it's really not that great.. I know what you mean though, I was pretty thrilled to find frank sinatra by miss kitten on planetxusa but I really don't play it since I only have one other techno track.. Oh well, someday it'll be worth it..I just think of it as adding a new dimension to my collection. |

| I know what you mean man. It also sucks when you're waiting for a tune for a while that you know will come out and then when it comes out you buy it immediately, but once it's in your hands it's been played to much and you're sick of it. I guess sort of the same thing actually, but that has happened to me a few times. |

I Completly agree with you!
During 2000-2002 I was spending every penny I earnt from my part-time job on trance cd singles in second-hand stores. I searched all over the place just to find one rare cd or record. I even used to take the train out of town to vist different record stores. Since then I have built up a collection 0f around 300 cd singles, unfortunately since then I have brought everywhere out and it's hard to find much anymore. Since I've had broadband it's been far too easy so I don't look much anymore. |

This is one of the fundamental reasons why I love DJing. Having my radio is a big plus. When you are downloading songs, you might have like 30 new songs, so if you have just one good one, it will be relatively unnoticed.
However, if you hear from other DJs and hear a song on livesets, and you manage to order it, throwing that track on makes it so much more worth while.
One little story: I downloaded Sholan-Can_You_Feel-(Thrillseekers_Remix) from this site a while back when I had a residency at a club in Gatineau. I enjoyed the song enough to slap it on order on the Internet (can't remember which site). A couple of months later, I had completely forgotten the track, and I receive this LP in the mail. I didn't get a chance to even take it out of the box until I got to the club, so 2 hours into my set I just threw it on, beat matched it, and trusted my judgement of ordering it. I can't tell you how deeply those simple synths struck me, remembering how great this tune is to me on a personal level.
So honestly, order your favorite tunes now, and give them a rest(IF YOU CAN!) until you get them on vinyl. Your purchase will be that much more sweet... |
