I can't...I really cannot dance to hip hop. What happened? I used to be able to at least bounce my body to the beats but I've been so indoctrinated into the realm of house, trance and techno that I cannot get into hip hop beats. Too slow and boring? I don't know...I mean all respect to the music but I can't get get into it. Anybody feel what I'm saying?

I know what ur saying. The last time I went to a hiphop party, I just stood there even after having a few drinks. (did not even try bumping my head) A few years ago I used to hit a lot of hip hop parties and actually dance there. But now I just can't... maybe the music is too slow or I've lost my dancing skills. I mean hip hop beats are so random its really hard to dance to it unless you already know how the beat goes. I prefer the steady/faster beat of trance music and likes these days

I am not big fan of hip hop, but hands don it's the best music to get laid. got to love pub night :D

wise words to live by :D

i guess if you get used to electronica music, you would find dancing to hip hop less of a challenge, at least thats the way I see it. I can dance to both, but I would much rather dance to electronica than hip hop, simply because I find hip hop dancing very boring and somewhat repetitious at clubs

I agree that it's so much easier for girls to dance to hip...probably because of the booty shaking..the swinging of the hips etc. Personally I think it's a speed thing for me. The beats are simply to slow. I suppose it's just what you're used to. I know people who've heard trance and said "how can you possibly dance to this?" Most pub nights I've noticed the dancefloor clears if the dj drops any dance tune with a 4 to the floor beat.

I'll have to test my theory by hitting up a drum n bass or breakbeat party sometime:D

I wish more broads came to techno/trance events.
and i hate white people who think they are black,
common people let the blacks have something to call their own.
like the music yes, but dont think you are a thug.

well.......Image is everything sometimes.

As for hip hop dancing,

bend the elbows, have a bottle of beer, and make sure your pants are pulled down to your knees. Then just bend your kness every so often, and there you go, hip hop for the white man.

hehehehe...i know what u talkin bout drew...back in the day when hiphop was GOOD, i was able to bump and grind etc. now only if i hear an old track that i loved back in the day, i just cant dance

i remember goin to a club early this year and one of my female friends pulled me to the dance floor to dance with the group and i just COULDNT dance...even when she was grinding with me, i was just too stiff cos i just couldnt feel the music...

oh well...not a big deal anwyays....if wecouldnt dance to electronica, THAT would be a problem:thepirate

^ far more natural to dance to than trance.

Even in the iDream reviews I saw some people saying "I didn't think I could dance to it but I did"... hahahaha. DnB is a natural transition from breaks OR from hip-hop; it's soooo easy to convert people to jungle, especially girls. :D

Again, I think it's because I'm used to the faster beats that DnB or breaks would be easier. I read some iDream reviews and it sounds like alot of people were really impressed by that music. I'm not very exposed to it, but I'd like to check it out.

I think I was put off alot of DnB because I have this perception that DnB parties can be quite dodgey as in lots of fights, crackheads, etc...Is that true? It's just what I've been told...I'm possibly just ignorant to the scene.

Nah... DnB culture can be a bit thuggy (partly due to it being an evolution of hip-hop), but they're actually nice if you talk to them. Think about it - these are people who used to do hip-hop but gave up the other hip-hop "elements" for better music. Some people prefer to just make assumptions about them rather than actually find out for themselves.

+1 to the TOTA DnB Massive! We'll be draggin' you out this summer!
