Click on each camera for more details about each camera :

SONY DSC-P72 CYBER-SHOT

NIKON COOLPIX 3100

OLYMPUS D560

CANON POWERSHOT A70 (the one on the left)

please don't judge the cameras on their looks or because a "brand" makes better cameras than the others , i need like a full explanation on why i should choose X and not Y or Z :) they're all in the same price range and i can't afford spending more. thanks

olympus or cannon. i'd side more with the olympus to be honest. i own one (c-3000 zoom) and its an amazing camera. they have great optics, a ton of features, are simple as pie to use ( i leafed theough the manual once to figure something out ). they just make a really really good camera. i'd recommend it without hesitation.

EDIT: i have a t68i too!!! soulmates!!!!!!!! lol:D

Bro, I own the Canon Powershot A40, and even though you didn't mention it, you did mention the A60 and A70. I think this camera is great, not only does it take great pics at great resolution, but it takes videos with sound, which is a very very handy feature. I paid 240 bucks for it and it's all I really need. Very very easy to use. If you think one more megapixel is gonna make your life better, go ahead and spend another 100 bucks on the 3 megs then, I personally didn't think it was necessary. Peeze!

I would have to say Canon because they give you the possiblity of controlling what you want to do more so then the other brands ( especially Sony and the fuji which low ends model aren't that great )

the canon has higher sensitivity in the light sensors in general + seem to have stronger casing

now I know you didn't ask this but I don't think you should really force yourself to get a digital camera with a Megapixel superior to 2.0 cause you wouldn't really have a use for it ( or would you ? )

well i chose these particular 4 models because they are the ones i can get with a no interest 12 months financing , as for 3 or 2 megapixels , i guess i'm not gonna use it to make huge ass pics , but i don't want small resolutions ... you know what i'm saying :)

get the canon
they make quality

sony is lame becuase u have to use sony memory sticks which cost a lot more and arent as good

the nikon is good (my friend has it) but its definatly not as good as my canon it has some fancy features like taking multiple shots and taking the best one but a lot of that stuffs pointless
the quality isnt as good

olympus isnt worth it

sonys take really good automatic shots. the canons you have on there are out of the league of the others...try an s50 or elph... canons take great pics with some fiddling...you need to really know what youre doing. i think nikon and canon tie for the best ones althought ive never used a nikon. i personally have a canon s40

i have a canon powershot a40. it's brilliant and until this day i dont regret buying it. however it takes 4 batteries, and they run out fast. plus i only got a 32mb flash card with it :(

there is no charger on the canon ? how come ? do you have to use normal batteries everytime or what ?

if you can afford the Nikkon, isnt it the same price as the Olympus Camedia C730?

if so I reccomend that camera above all else.
it works AMAZING in Low light, 4 AA recharable batteries lasted well over 100 pics and a few vids with the LCD on and off all night.

but of the 4 listed
Nikkon
Cannon
Olympus
Sony

me lass has a fuji finepix 404 and it is the dogs bollocks, but it cost 400 quid, dunno if thats in yer price range?
k.k.d.
Hmm.. Cannon A series is not their S or G series, so I wouldn't be getting that.. Out of those, I would of taken Nikkon, since (if i remember correctly from the times when i was studying the market four months ago) Nikkon had a decent quality/features ratio... Of course, if only you could have found for cheap the now discontinued Cannon S40, you would of been much better off ;)

Personally, I have an Olympus C-50, great camera (except noise on higher iso settings, and kind of limited white balance control).

That being said, you should look around at sites like http://www.dpreview.com/ or http://www.dcresource.com , instead of asking for popular opinion here, and decide for yourself ;)

[Edit: just realised you were linking the stats from the first site I mention.. hehehe]
