College tuition...must die. (pg. 3)

I'm from Chicago, and i'm going to Iowa State University. so i'm out of state. and tuition alone is about $14,000 a year beacuse of that. room & board , another $5000.
with additional fees, personal expenses and whatnot it adds up to about $20,500. a year. However, i just got contracted with a scholarship with the Air Force ROTC, and tuition is being paid for, now i just gotta pay room & board. but i've got another scholarship for academics, and a grant as well. so i have to pay about 1k out of my pocket. compared to about $12k i had to before i got the ROTC scholarship.
But to me, college @ a yyoung age is a once in a lifetime experience, and i think its beneficial to get a degree. So its worth it. Being a part of the AFROTC is great too, and even if i didn't get that scholarship i'd take out as many loans as i could to be a part of something i feel is really great.
So to me, money isn't that big of a deal, and i felt this way before i even had any scholarships and was taking out ass loads of loans. As long as i get to experience a university/college life in a big state school and get a great education, then i'm satisfied. and so far i've been getting that. |

The reward of these miseries, of course, is the hope we'll get a job after we graduate. (That is... if the economy allows us to have jobs hehe). The bright side is that at least I'm getting a good education, and that I'm enjoying my experience.

| the tuition is $11000 a year for my college, but i got lucky enough to get full scholarship and even be able to put couple of grand per semester in pocket... it's a tremendous help, when your friends and parents are 4500 miles away |

Well not really.
I go to Wentworth Institute of Technology, which is located a hundred yards from Northeastern University.
BTW, the tuition there is $14,300 per year (2 semesters)

EEK, goddamit, thats ing expensive!
Here, for ANY course, ranging from ceramics :stongue: to Medicine/Law/Finance, the tuition fees are only 1,100 Pounds, which is approx $1500 per year!
My question here, is say, a course runs for 3 years in the US, with average fees being about $20,000, how the hell can anyone afford it?! I mean, parents to an extent i guess, but still, its a lot of expendable money on your kid! |

americans live their whole life in debt:D
loans, car financing, house mortgages...
it's great, though... not like in russa, when a russian mafia guy comes to buy new mercedes cl-600 with a case packed with 100-dollar bills :D |

werd. and the honest working people take the bus to work and have no money to pay the bus fare, cuz their boss, the russian mafia guy, doesn't pay them, but only promises to... it's so nice when you work at a car muffler factory to get paid in car mufflers... because your boss took all the money and invested it in some swiss bank for interest. or when some people get paid with sugar or bricks... it's messed up.
back on the subject, tuition does suck. that's why i'm gonna end up going to umass amherst, because it's cheap, and i can get a full tuition scolarship based on my MCAS scores (eh, standardized tests...) |
