I usually refuse to call it Soccer...I mean what does soccer mean...Football is self explanitory....FOOT & BALL not exactly describing American Football is it..:whip: |

| It's an extreme lack of creativity I think. They could have come up with a better name, American "football" involves using an ovoid with the hands, and yet they insist it is we who should change the name. The real football has been going for centuries. |

From an American viewpoint.. I just have no idea why we call it football, but it's been that way so long now you crazy foreigners just have to deal with it.

Interestingly enough, I was looking up people by keywords on hotornot.com (don't ask why, I was just really bored one day) and it seems to me when I look up by the keyword trance, the only sports I really ever see are hockey or soccer. I guess it goes to show the international draw of the music and the sports compared to more strictly american games like (american) football, basketball, and baseball. I could possibly tolerate baseball if they figure a way to SPEED THE GAME UP. They ought to call baseball "the sport for those who can't handle too much excitement" |

I don't think it's a trance thing, football is the biggest sport in the world anyway, so any site with people from around the world will have football fans. I think North America and possibly Australasia are the only continents not already dominated by football, but it seems to be slowly but surely gaining popularity in these places too.
As for American Football, they probably just couldn't be arsed to come up with a good name. It's not too late to change ;)
Baseball is fun to play but boring to watch, in my opinion. |
