Thanks for the interview, nice to get an update on what he's been up to. Hmm...now all we need is a Matt Darey Essential Mix...:nervous: :eyespop:

I'm not a big fan of classic tunes being re-hashed, its very rare they're anything like as good as the original

agreed. i keep hearing all these old tunes re-released that just make me sad (Rank1- Ariwave, Storm - Time to Burn, AVB - Blue Fear), and it just sucks. I guess if its as good/better than the original i cant complain but if it isnt, then its just another classic overmixed one again....:(

Matt Dareyis so awesome. His new productions are unique and still full of energy. If anyone has kept up the energy and not changed it's Matt darey. I know he sort of disappeared but his back.

An essential mix would be sweet although I see more prog em's than anything else.

Can't wait to hear his new .

Moody's got to be one of the top quality tunes he ever produced as well as Electrobuzz which is a cracka of a tune.

Great news! I surely hope Matt does better job with updating Gamemaster than Armin did with his Blue Fear 2003.. :nervous:

This gets me thinking that this could be a bad sign for trance this year :(
Alot of old material is being remixed for 2003. I think this kinda sux in terms of originality.

ill second that, his productions were well ahead of their time

I think I've tolerated the remakes up to a certain point. This will just make or break my opinion of them.

Overall, I think producers should stay away from remaking old tunes, especially when everyone else is doing the same thing. It seems like such a cop-out for actual new material.

I didn't actyally compare them or didn't say anything about Armin being better than Matt or vice versa.. i was just hoping Matt manages to do a better job with remaking Gamemaster than most of the recent remakes have turned out to be.. :nervous:

And i agree with Nell, Matt's productions were indeed well ahead of their time!

Certaintly reworking the classics is far from good for the trance scene as a whole long term, but when you take into account the nature of dance music where 99% of tracks are released with many different mixes and remixes, it is good when you are on the dancefloor in a club in the midle of the night and you hear the distinctive chords of one of your favourite tracks with an exciting new mix.

I think for a lot of tranceaddicts and certaintly for me the bast*@*ing of Rank 1 -Airwave by Rank 1 themselves with their truly awful rework of Airwave for 2003 left a feeling that some classic tunes are best left as that, classics to enjoy.

But at the same time if it is done properly by the right producers then some reworks and remixes can add a lot to the original, for example Tilt's Courtyard remix of Children is imo even better than the beautiful original.

I believe that Matt Darey has the talent and potential to do a good job on Gamemaster and Point Zero, admittingly some of his recent tunes have been dissapointing but that is only in comparsion to his groundbreaking releases in 99 which are still some of the finest uplifting trance tunes ever made today.

I believe that he will return to the same sort of production values and sound that made him who he is today.

Just my opinion
