Ian Van Dahl is a woman?

It says in the latest DJ Mag that Ian Van Dahl is an alias for a Belgian (I think) female producer?

I forget her name now, but it also mentioned Absolom 'Secret' as one of her productions. (I really should have typed this message when I had the mag to hand...!)

If this info is correct, is it her that sings on Castles In The Sky?
goodnet
well, im looking into this, but i am pretty sure the singer is not the same as the producer (it says "feat. marsha".. so im assuming marsha is the name of the featured singer.)
TranceCluber
it could be Ian Van Dahl ..is like Alice Deejay kinda...where there is a girl in the front ground of the songs...but the actual productions are made by other people...but u never know she might do everything her self or something i dont know =)
JdDark
ian van dahl wasn't made by a woman, but by two guys: christophe chantzis and another one, christophe chantzis is also the guy who is responsable for absolom
goodnet
okay... Christophe Chantiz is at least one of the producers behind the project...

looking in the cd sleeve of the TTF 16 cd (which has "castles in the sky (peter luts remix)" on it), it says the following producers:

Erik Vanspauewen, Martine Theeuwen,Christophe Chantiz.
some of those names could be the ones behind the Peter Luts remix only.

I don't beleive it either, but it's quite intersting what the site says about it. It actually says its a female and...well I'm going to paste the damn thing in.

Ian Van Dahl is not your average producer. Firstly, he is actually a she, AnneMie Coenen. A 27 year old club diva and singer/songwriter who was given the tag Ian as a kid growing up in Belgium.

Ian Van Dahl have been causing a stir in the UK with her release, 'Castles In The Sky'. Already a smash around Europe and currently one of the biggest dance tunes on American radio and clubs, 'Castles' is sure to be a massive anthem in the UK when it's released in Junes.

Ian wrote 'Castles' after a 7 year relationship ended and she was left feeling "very alone". She was then working with Eric Vanspauwen and Christophe Chantzis, the latter the producer responsible for DJ Jans massive 'Xanto' and Absolom's 'Secret', one of 1999's biggest trancers and on virtually every dance compilation from that year.

Nice body Ian...;)

I'm open minded, but I find all that a little hard to ignore. I just want to know what information you are basing it on that it's all wrong? This is a fair question isn't it?

Here's an e-mail that Chantzis Christophe sent to DJ Rrebel (the creator of www.homeofmusic.com):

Hello DJ RRebel. My name is Chantzis Christophe, producer of Absolom.

I was surfing and found your site. There were some serious mistakes in the articles and quotes that I saw. (Excuse my English if it's not correct)

I want to set some things straight. So you have the right info about me and the projects I make. Don't get me wrong I'm not mad at ya. I just want the right info on the net. Maybe later we can keep in contact and I can give you all the info about my records and stuff happening in Europe.

1. Ian van Dahl - Castles in the sky is a project from me and Erik Vanspauwen. The Peter Luts remix is made with Peter, Erik and me.
2.The producers of La Luna are Regi Penxten and Steve "Spaceman" Spaas. They don't have anything to do with Absolom or IVD.
I only worked with them on some remixes. I did 2 remixes for Aqualords, an other project of them. And a remix for Milk Inc., a project from Regi Penxten and Filip Vandueren.
3.Ian van Dahl is on the Freestyle Records label on A&S Productions/Antler-Subway. In the USA it's on the Robbins/BMG label. The single is out from last week in the US.
4.Absolom - Stars is also on the Freestyle label. And yes we still exist. The only thing is that Ellen and Cindy, the two dancers, left the group because we don't do live acts no more. We do a live act from Ian van Dahl instead. With new dancers and singer. Pascale, the singer of Absolom, also has her solo project. I'm also working on this one. It's gonna be more alternative. More the style like Madonna and stuff.
5.Katleen is not the singer of Absolom. She is in the band Astroline. One of the other projects I started. I made 2 singles, Take good care and Feel the fire, then Peter Luts took over this project because I had to many stuff to do.Peter Luts, the one from the remix.

If you have questions or comments on my mail, please contact me: [e-mail removed by DJ RRebel]

If you want an interview, do a booking for Montreal (live act Ian van Dahl or set) or remix you can also contact me.

Please inform your mailers about this.

Best regards. Chantzis Christophe.

Hope that answers a few queries.
