Judging by the "Messed up Movies" thread, I'd say that TOTA's are generally appreciative of good flicks.

So for those of you who are interested, it could very well be a good idea to check out this festival, featuring "the best and most interesting documentaries from Canada and around the world." :)

"Hot Docs started out as an industry-only fest in the early '90s but now makes a serious effort to bring in the general public. This year Hot Docs will run for 10 days, and will screen approximately 100 documentaries from Canada, the U.S. and overseas. True to its industry roots, Hot Docs continues to host meetings and symposiums for media buyers, producers and directors.

This years festival is divided into seven programs:

1. International Showcase: Features Toronto premieres of acclaimed and evocative documentaries from around the world.

2. Canadian Spectrum: Showcasing the finest documentaries cut on home soil. With more than hundreds of submissions, competition is fierce for the 34 available spots.

3. Spotlight on UK: Our attention is directed to life across the big pond (Atlantic) in this presentation of 13 documentaries from the UK.

4. Nick Broomfield Retrospective: Distinguished British filmmaker Nick Broomfield returns to screen four of his most popular films.

5. Made in...Taiwan: Hot Doc's newest feature aim to highlight a series of films with a specific geographical focus. Taiwan is this year's subject of investigation.
