When is this american trade protectionism gonna stop.

first softwood lumber
then wheat
now blueberries

I mean most Americans are great ppl (One of them gave birth to me) but this trade protectionism is getting on my ing nerves. They claim unfair advantages and slap tarifs on our and yet they are the world's foremost supporter of freetrade. So they only benefit and everyone else does not. Frankly I don't get this view and I am frankly pissed off with this viewpoint. If anyone understand this better than me, feel free to tell me about it because I'm confused and frankly this makes no sense

its the power junkies in the high positions that give a bad name to the american people

Of course it doesn't make sense. No offence to the country, but a lot about America does not make sense. Take a look in the Political forum here on TA to get a glimpse.

Americans forcing for the sudden disarmament of an already disarmed middle-eastern country, then afterwards openly admitting that there was no need to disarm in the first place? That doesn't make sense.

Americans instituting new laws that strip away the basic tenets of the Constitution like privacy and the right to free speech, right in front of the mob's eye, while no one raises a voice against the process? A process that seeks to undermine the very foundations of American society? That doesn't make sense.

An American foreign policy that totally disregards the interests of any other nation, even going so far as to assert itself over others - and this coming from a nation that, when founded, established as a basic principle that the affairs of other countries was none of its business, not to mention that the very thought of aggression was unthinkable? That doesn't make sense.

I could go on, but in a word or two, a lot about America Just Doesn't Make Sense. (that could be the name of a TV show! :toothless)

Again, no offence to the actual Americans, hell, 90% of them don't even know what is happening right in front of their eyes, being blinded by CNN and whatnot! Hopefully they, and the world, will wake up to this...

So tarrifs on blueberries are, IMO, the smallest concern here. :)

Unless you are madly in love with blueberries, that is. :D

My post wasn't supposed to be American bashing, and hardly American-hating! ;)

Ya know, I'm pissed off more by Canadian Customs!! Today I got 2 packages of vinyls (finally, ugh), and they were BOTH opened and BOTH taxed. wtf? Are they that stupid at customs? Can't they see there are RECORDS inside? Maybe they just like opening up packages just to rake in the cash. Or perhaps "Chemical Records" on the front made them think there was Anthrax inside or something.

:haha:

See I wonder at that

Free Trade is supposed to be in force but yet we all have to pay duty on everything we buy from the states. Pathetic if you ask me, but I did not pay duty on my Ulrich Schnauss - Far Away Trains Passing By (A true GEM!)
