yea..a very comprehensive set of rules that i'm sure we all follow but a few annoying ppl (i dunno of any TAs who do this thank god) but just for clubbers in general:

01. Play something good......something we can dance to!
Your DJ has to play for more than one person..... so what you may hate may be another person's favorite song and
EVERYTHING played here can be danced to, one way or another.
02. Would you play something with a "beat"?
BE SERIOUS!!! We know of NO songs played in a club that don't have some sort of a "BEAT"!
03. I don't know who sings it, and I don't know the name of the song. But it goes like this....
STOP...In the name of GOD!! Don't sing for your DJ, he/she has to put up with smoke filled rooms, dangerous decibel
levels, not to mention other things, please do him/her a favor and don't give him/her your rendition of your favorite song.
04. Everybody wants to hear it...REALLY!
Oh Sure! You polled everyone in the club and, as their spokesperson, you're requesting the song.
05. Everyone will dance if you play it!
The DJ won't. Well I guess that blows a hole in that theory!!
06. I can get laid if you play it!
Why settle for one night? Buy the album and get laid for the whole month!
07. I want to hear it next!
The ONLY people who can get away with that statement write the DJ's paycheck.
08. I don't know what I wanna hear..... What do you have?
It's a lot easier for you to go have another beer and figure out what you want to hear, than it is for your DJ to recite
the name of every record in the booth.
09. Hey man!!! Nobody can dance to this!
It is not advisable to say this when the dancefloor is packed (but some people do anyway). HOWEVER, even if there
is one person on the floor, IT STILL CONTRADICTS THE STATEMENT!!
10. Some Assorted Things Not To Say
If you ask for a song and your DJ says "I just played it," don't say, "Well, I just got here." It makes no difference
Don't say, "Is this the only kind of music you play?" If you go to a Chinese Restaurant, do you ask for Italian food?
Rock clubs play rock, country taverns play country, discos play disco, and so on.....BE SPECIFIC.
Don't say, "I wanna hear something... anything but this!" Try going to the bar and saying, "I wanna drink something...
anything but this!" Let's see what you get. However! If you are specific and your DJ says he/she doesn't have
the song DON'T SAY, "What!?! What do you mean you don't have it? What kind of a DJ are you?"
HE or SHE MAY SHOOT YOU!!!
11. A Special Note
A night club DJ gets very little respect sometimes. They are expected to play everything for everybody. It is impossible
to satisfy all of the people all of the time, yet club jocks are expected to do just that! If a radio jock tells his listeners
a song is a hit, the majority of the people figure it MUST BE, because it's on the radio. HOWEVER, 80% of the time
that same song was being played in a club looong before the radio discovered the NEW song.
So, give the DJ a break! The next time you request a song, STOP and THINK before you speak.
12. One more thing!
If your DJ has one hand on the mixer, one hand on the turntable, and his earphone is on...........

| I personally think as a dj you should play songs that moves you personally and then consider playing top hits |

nah, not really, you actually play for the crowd and what they want to hear, you're there for a reason, and that's them... if you're lucky enough to end up playing for people that are into same music you're into, then thats great, but otherwise, you gotta cater to their needs...

you kinda of right
I personally like to play something more deeper and unknown and sometimes there is different reaction from crowd, they can go nuts or they can just stop and listen to the tunes.
btw I heard that you are involved into 'yugroove' or you are running it. I was just wander if I can be a part of it as well. I can send you some of my demos. I pretty sure that Armada will like to be involved as well. |

I DJ'd at a top40 club for about a year and a half, all CD . SO MUCH of that list is true, rofl.
My favourite line to use in such situations was "Oh, that track is great, but I don't have it!". If they said "the other DJ played that last night though!", I would respond with "Yeah and that stupid ****** scratched the disc which had it!!!!!"
The one nice thing about that place was the barely legal girls though, lol. |

lol...:) those are good.
another couple would be - no matter how drunk you are, don't reach over the decks and put things on the spinning records.
also - don't try to reach over and play with the mixer
:)
at this one club we were giving away free CHILLS rolling papers and a drunk girl in the crowd thought it would be cute that while she was grinding with this guy to reach over and place rolling paper packs on the record that was spinning - she then laughed when the needle went flying off of the record!:) and hey - who grinds to trance anyways...lol:) |

but most deejays are more than happy to talk and sign stuff before and after gigs which is great. THen again, some deejays play their set and then run off like pansies
