didn't know where to put this..
the problem is this: whenever i sit behind my desk i get like 0 bass.. then i lie in my bed and every song sounds SO MUCH better and the bass i can really feel it and stuff.. also when i stand behind my door (lol) the bass is very good but not when im behind my desk :s

heres a drawing of my room to give u an idea: http://users.chello.be/ws36595/kamur.JPG (my desk aint just flat it has these racks to put books in etc on top of it)

the "X" are the places where i get sweet bass :p the red box is the woofer and the small red ones are the sats (Creative FPS1500 or something) i already tried putting the woofer under my desk but that didnt help at ALL

any help is welcome and sorry for the bad english and not using capitals and stuff im pretty tired atm

You should place the speakers in the corners pointing to the middle of your room
jonsimmonds
yup jp is right about speaker placement, and it shouldnt really matter where the woofer is placed. What speakers you using
Kujin
well i dont have 'stands' for those speakers so i should just put them on the floor then?

and i got el cheapo speakers but they were free so :)

OOOOOOOk

Well first of all maybe you can help us out w/ a little better rendition of your room! I take it the bottom left of the drawing is your door? The reason that you have good bass when you stand behind your door is cuz bass waves are really large compared to treble waves. It takes them longer to travel than it does the treble frequencies. Anyways the bass sounds better behind your door b/c more than likely it forms a corner when you stand behind it. This is almost always true w/ bass frequencies they will be a lot stronger/louder in corners. You should have your best luck w/ the most amount of bass by placing your subwoofer in or close to a corner. Now having said that it all depends on how you like your bass. Big and boomy, or tight and "quick." Judging from your initial post i would think that you are goin for big and boomy, so place your subwoofer in a corner, and then turn the sub volume up somewhat.

Well ideally you would get better speakers b/c the one's you have are e, but I'm thinking that this isn't your point, you want to optimise your current setup, and hanging the speakers up in the corners isnt what you want to do. Now you made a comment earlier about not having stands for the speakers, so I take that means that you arent gonna go out and buy some, which is your best idea, so that means you are gonna have to come up w/ some makeshift ones. Ideally speaking the best placement for speakers would be to have the tweeters at or near ear level. I can't be asked to get into typing out a really techical reasoning behind placing your speakers this way, but I can tell you that bein a former hardcore audio/stereophile, that speaker placement is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT in order to bring out the best performance in your speakers. Put it this way, you can have some average speakers sound better than quality ones if the average speaker are placed properly and the quality ones aren't.;)

Good Luck

wooooooooo nice post thx

put your sub under your monitor(top right corner of your picture) in that corner as close to the wall as possible (make sure the port has free airflow though, so orient it correctly. point the sats so they aim at your head, doesnt really matter where they are just make sure they are aiming at you.

if you make a major change to your speaker arrangement you WILL notice a difference in how they sound, dont worry youll get used to it eventually and you wont notice it after a couple days.
