Just A Thought About Newbies
View this Thread in Original format

I was reading all the posts about newbies, how to treat them, and then a thought... "When is a newbie no longer a newbie?" The answer posted, "When they stop acting like one."

And that got me thinking. I know I joined this forum group because I was looking for like-minded people. I was looking for humour. I was looking to contribute to something.

Newbies need to realize that by posting on a board, by participating in something, they need to put aside a couple reservations about saying something stupid, about being criticized. We're all adults here - or we almost are - or we almost all act like - nevermind. You get the idea. We're all probably here to learn, to laugh, to enjoy ourselves, not to tiptoe around, scared of what might be said against us.

A newbie stops acting like one when they interact, when they learn, when they grow, when they become part of the group they join.

Has this already been said before BTW?

Anyhows... when i join forums... im looking for open minded people that are willing to contribute to society, or in this case the internet, im more words than just saying.. OMG ANOTHER NEWBIE!!!

We are all newbies ... otherwise we wouldnt' be 3|33t.. but try telling them that, is like swimming with no arms... tsk tsk tsk..

Some ppl ive met online are just too darn right ignorant and don't appreciate the input that many minds can contribute to something...

When I first joined, I rarely posted and I just read stuff. The first thing I did was search "best livesets" or something like that. After a while, I started posting but by then I felt that I knew enough that I was never flamed for asking n00b questions. Maybe the board was different back then.

Im finding it harder to contribute as well and Ive been here half of forever, just seems that there are a lot more people on the forums who are either extreamly arrogant and enjoy enforcing their 'holier than thou' opinions on each other. Sure, you can have your opinion by all means but it starts getting ugly when you cant see someone elses.

Guess thats a reflection of society in general, as forums are a cross section of that and you'll get the warts along with the nice bits.

But yes, the overall tone of the place here now I find being somewhat more unfriendly, more than a 'little' purile and juvanile for my liking.

quite well said, ppl.
and oh yea by the way... it's 31337, not 3|337, n00b!!!!!

lmfao!!! ;) ;) :D :D :happy2:  :haha: :stongue: just kidding!
montie
why do people think they are so cool because they have spent countless hours on an internet forum??

noob, veteran whatever.
get over your ing selves.
stop flaming someone because what you think they said is stupid. to them, they are jus trying to get some information on something they haven't had the opportunity to be informed on.

if your all "adults" talk about something logical and enlightening not about being a n00b noobie whatever the

Like I've said earlier:
Being a newbie isn't the date you registered/the amount of posts, it's a state of mind.

Some people here still act like newbies although they have thousands of posts...

yes this is exactly what I done. I just read through the forums for months before I actually 1st posted and then I knew what to avoid and how the whole forums where "ran" as such.
