First of all a big "Hello" to everyone,
My Name is Thomas and i'm 22 years old - coming from the 'right now' rainy germany. Since about 5 years i'm playing around with some sound hard- / software to produce own tracks. After many real bad mixes i think my recent project is the first "real" one.
Ok - I will try to tell another way - I think it has the ability to be a real kick-ass trancer and thats why i want you to take a look at it (or better your two ears :)).
I know everyone who is producing some tracks knows the feeling when
the own track starts to 'bang', but when the song is ready and you wait some weeks you perhaps see that the created track isn't as good as you think before... Ok perhaps not every time - but my expirience showed it BUT... BUT... this time its another feeling in my head about my track...
ok talked enough - its time to post a link for you.
The Track is still work in Progress and not finished yet - perhaps i'm going to add some more synths and some vocals (but right now i don't have a women near who is able to sing *g*)
So, give it a chance - and tell me your true opinion about it:
I-Carus - Unnamed Promo Part I (11:58min / 11,2 MB)
I'm looking forward your comments :)
Greetings Thomas

Guten Tag :) Ich bin auch 22.
Bangin' tune. This is my style, too. What's the BPM out of curiosity? Is it just me, or is the kick "split" a little?
Good synths and sounds, but the melody is repetitive and the break is too long. Which program are you using? |

Ok - Let's start,
The track's running on a constant BPM rate of 152. The Kick Drum is underlined with a very silent hihat and some very deep frequenced baselines (exactly one octave under the basesequence that is running at the start). Last but not Least there are some reverb effects on it - perhaps there the "splitting effect" is comming from.
With the melody you're right - and i also think that the track is still too long (cause of the fill like you said). Right now I'm working on a more "playable" Version with different Break Beats while the piano fill is running. I'm going to try to cut some patterns out of the fill and make some more synth variations. My target is a track with about 6-7 mins playtime.
The used Synths all come out of a hardware synth from the swedish developer Clavia. More info about you find here: http://www.clavia.se/nordlead3/index.htm
The Beats and Drums are all sampled from existing trance/house/techno vinyl's and reworked with Cool Edit. (one of the used Hihats come from a Beatles Vinyl from my Dad *smile*)
Finally all Samples then tracked together with the Windows Version of the FastTracker called ModPlug Tracker. This Tool supports CuBaseVST's and much more... after some time you will love it. For more Infos take a look at:

| Part 1??? damn, this was a long ass tune. lol...doesnt mean it wasnt any good. loved everythin bout this song. I'm not a huge fan of trance, but u sold this to me. lol...the bassline and how it matched with the main riff was sweet. i really enjoyed this. one problem i had with this was the kick and how it kinda sounded like it sped up at times. the kick is a bit too muffled IMO. maybe try makin it stand out a bit more. besides that. sounds great...keep it up:D |

One Thing i saw is when you got a hardware Mixer (or Equilizer) and tune up the Highpass and the Lowpass about 15% - and let the middle line as it is - the global sound of the track increases a bit - especially the sound of the kick and the synths.
In the next Version i'll try to master the track with other EQ Settings :)
Thanx for the good Comment - Work will be kept up :) |
