Well, as far as I understand "Tiesto in Concert" has been a huge commercial success. I wonder what does that mean for dance music industry?
It was recorded, and footage should be shown on all major music channels, something that has probably never happened before. Do you think it will change the commercialization of Trance music? Will be it become more commercial or does that concert mean nothing for dance music?
Will we see more concerts like this or was this a one time thing? |

I don't think it will be shown on American music channels though, that's not very likely. It will probably be shown on MTV Europe but that wouldn't be a precedent, they've shown footage from Trance Energy, Sensation and other festivals before.
As far as the implications of this concert, I think the ante is raised for everyone in the business. Of course it's commercial, something this huge has to be commercial, there's no other way around it. But frankly, does it matter if it's commercial, considering that end result turned out to be so positive? I just think Dutch society is ahead of its time and that's why we're seeing events like this happen. I wouldn't be surprised to see parties like this coming up around the world in the near future, but dance culture is just too strong here in Holland right now, I love it (and other European countries too, but I can't speak about what i don't know much about).
This wasn't the biggest event ever either, much more people attend Sensation, Dance Valley, Love Parade etc. However, it was the biggest event for one dj. Can any other dj pull something like this off? I don't know about that, I just know that Tiesto raised the stakes and is on his way to win again DJ Mag's poll, whether you people like it or not. :p |

Well.... there will definately be other attempts at Concert like events seeing that this was a HUGE success commercially... and money was made from it. From a business standpoint, it wouldnt hurt to do it again if realistic apporaoches were taken into consideration. Someone like Paul van Dyk or Oakenfold might be able to pull it off....as for others it may be hard.
As far as the commercialization of trance goes, it has certainly taken its affect in Holland and Europe. As for North America's disgusting apetitie for hip hop and rap goes, it will be harder for a commercial base to form if its not represented as pop culture in the media. MTV and other music channels need to make the effort to express this genre if it is to be made popular. |

| well, i honestly believe that years from now, we prolly will look back and say, yea, when tiesto played solo for 25,000 people, it definitely changed the dance music scene. I'm hoping for the best, but only time will tell. |

As for Holland, I don't think that there is another DJ who could fill an entire soccer stadium yet.. Only one who should be able to come close is Dana (regarding the fact her solo night at the HMH = 5000 or so tickets was sold out pretty quickly).
But I don't see 25000 people buying a ticket for a night with only Paul van Dyk here... |
