Nennon, I agree that Glow's location does suck, it's a bit small and hot too. The good things are the details they have, bubbles, lasers, good sound system, and most of all GREAT DJS!! They had ATB, Tiesto, Taucher, etc... By the way, I was there when Tiesto and Edgar were spinning, one of the highlights was when Edgar played Norman Bass-How you like Bass? I've never been to Platinum actually, I heard it's good, a friend of mine is a resident DJ next door at Volt, although comments about the Volt haven't been good lately. I definitely have to check out Platinum, my gripe is that they don't really have big name DJs, but that doesn't mean the ones they have are bad... anywayz, this month is gonna be hot!

Hey Spain :)

Platinum is badass. They have a huge chandelier in the middle of the room, which casts colored shadows on the dance floor and reflects light in every direction.. It's constantly lit up by different lasers, and makes the whole club look AWESOME.. The main dance floor has a stage in the front, and two levels of balconies above it.. Second level balcony wraps around the whole club and contains the DJ booth; third level has a bar and a lounge. The light effects, the sound system, the temperature inside the club are perfect.. But it's the people there are what really makes the place awesome. I've never seen so many hot 18-24 year old chicks in the same place at the same time, ever.

Volt would be a decent club if they had an air conditioner installed. A few fans don't really do a good job of cooling it down. It sucks :P There is no reason to go to Volt when Platinum is 10 feet away, and has DJ Bassam (who's a friend of mine) and Rob Clay. They are both very good technically, and are total crowd pleasers. I've gone to Platinum 17 times now, and it feels new every time.. Which is amazing, because I'm there for roughly 4-5 hours a night. You'd think that I would know what to expect by now.

Admittedly, Platinum DJs do play a lot of cheese.. Fragma, Darude (that's guaranteed), lots of pop dance stuff.. but the vibe is great, and you don't really mind.

Last week, I was dancing with a good female friend of mine, and at the end of the night, Bassam/Clay played Flesh (tiesto remix), For an angel, and a bunch of other stuff more appropriate for a Tiesto set.. I was really surprised, but it made my night. It's an amazing feeling when you're dancing with someone you really like, and suddenly "For an angel" comes on :)

That night kicked ass...

Good anecdote hehe! Yeah I definitely need to pass by and check it out, I want to visit all DC clubs at least once. And women definitely MAKE a good party. Thanx for info, I'll let you know how it is when I check it out. Oh by the way, wasn't Sarina Paris supposed to be there soon? I might make a trip to see her, even though it is cheese, it's always cool to see someone you know live, especially if you hear her song on the radio.

P.S. Beam and Yanou Remix of Sarina Paris - Look at Us Now, is the best!

Sarina Paris will be there this Friday. I'm going :) If you want, we can meet up there.. If you're not going to Buzz this week.

(I might have gone to Buzz, but I already promised a lady friend of mine that I would go with her to Platinum)
Eugene
Thanks for the info.
I live in Baltimore, but I just *hate* being lost in the DC area, like downtown and stuff.

That time I was talking about, that was when Tiesto and Kimball Collins were playing at Glow. Hell, I left my car by a parking meter nearby (took me several HOURS to find free space) and then, the whole night long, I had to worry about my car possibly being towed away 'cause the meter would expire in half-an-hour, LOL... Although the bouncer told me not to worry about it, I did...

Plus I had a girl in my car and, once we were downtown, I had no freakin' idea where to drive, I kept asking everybody on the street and NOBODY could constructively tell me to do... You know that place, Mount Vernon Square, where like 6 or 7 f*****g streets intersect, you think you know where to go and you ALWAYS -- and I mean always -- end up going the wrong way?

Phew... And multiply that experience by 2, because I had to find my way back to Baltimore, as well... LOL... I didn't exactly enjoy myself then, ya know? ;) Although I hope the girl did.

Lol.. good story, Eugene :)

Print out Mapquest.com directions next time.. it might help. Or get a real map of DC. That works too :)

The first time I went clubbing was to see Alice Deejay live at Platinum.. I left my house at 7:40 and barely got to the club by 9.. An hour and twenty minutes.

My record time now? 27 minutes :) I've learned to drive like a typical Wash DC maniac.. Out of about 30-40 or so lights on the way to the club, I probably have to stop at only 4 or 5.. I've gotten the Wash DC driving thing down to an art..

Eugene, LoL, I hear ya bro, DC streets are very hard to drive in if you don't live there. I've gotten lost myself a few times, with all the one-way streets, dead-ends, and crazy intersections. You should always carry a map in your car, whether one you buy or from the 'net.

Nennon, I appreciate the offer bro, If DeepDish weren't going to be at Buzz, this weekend would definitely be the one I check out Platinum. I thought Sarina would be coming later this month :( It would definitely be cool to check it out with someone that knows it though, here's my email if ya want, [email protected], I attend the University of Maryland College Park, so ya know, you said you were attending in the fall, which one?
nennon
I applied to Amherst, Trinity, University of Maryland CP, University of Rochester, Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Goucher College.. I got accepted into all of them except Amherst, although I'm still on the waiting list for Trinity.

Currently, I'm planning to go to University of Rochester. It's a very nice school :)

Very cool bro, Trinity is in DC right? Is that the Trinity you applied to? I don't have a great idea about all universities, but UMCP is a great school in my opinion. Very big, great professors, interesting classes, parties, bars, greek life, all that good stuff. But good luck wherever you go.

Nope, not that Trinity.. the one I applied to is the #23 liberal arts college in the states, it's located in Hartford, CT.

Amherst is the #1 liberal arts college.. University of Rochester is first-tier, #33 (or something like that) University in the states.. The rest are less famous.

Anyway, if you use AIM, get on it :) I just added ya.

When i was applying to CP, I missed the deadline... LOL...
So they were supposed to give me some scholarship or whatever, and they didn't...

So I ended up at UMBC... Univ. of Maryland, Baltimore County :D

I missed it too, although it wasn't my fault.. the idiots in the UMCP admission staff thought they didn't have my year-end report, but they did.. so basically they ignored my application and I never heard anything from them. When my mom got back from a business trip to Europe, she got on the phone with the Dean of Admissions and bitched him out until they started apologizing profusely and accepted me :)

Lol.
