Hello everyone.
I just became a tranceaddict member after spending my last 6 months in Melbourne, Australia and living up the life there. Melbourne has the best music/rave scene I've ever scene and it really is about the music there. And it's HUGELY POPULAR. Check it out if you can.
So now I just arrived back in Chicago to the reverse culture shock, but still want to continue my trend of going out and seeing what's around. I know the scene isn't as big as in Melbourne, and I have heard about a few upcoming shows (Layo & Bushwacka, Tiesto, Picotto to name a few) that I will NOT miss. I haven't gone out in the Chicago nightlife in about a 8-9 months - so I don't know what's going on yet and I hate the 'bar life' that I once knew. Does anyone have any suggestions on places to hang to hear good music? Doesn't have to be trance, but anything of the 'dance genre', for instance, tech, hard house, breaks, NRG (doubt that has made it here yet), etc...
Also, member Acid John had a posting on his experiment to set up some decks in the park and just see what happens. This is exactly what happens in Melbourne ALL the TIME!!! It's unbelievable there and I loved it. I am 100% in favor of doing this and my friends back in Australia have convinced me to start 'something' up here. I have the motivation to do whatever it takes, although I don't know anything about spinning (need to find some people who do). I'm all about creating that 'rave' experience for the very essense of good. It's gotta start somewhere.
I have brought back loads of music with me from Australia, and more is being sent to me by friends. If anyone is interested in hearing a few new and interesting sounds - let me know. I just fell in love with hard NRG-trance style music at a club called Hard Kandy.
So basically, I'm open to suggestions by anyone and looking to check out the scene here in Chicago. I'm giving it one last chance. And I'm totally up for creating a scene of our own - if anyone else has got the time.
Just let me know... |

Hola The American,
I've been through music-scene withdrawal myself.... I feel ya.
The best parts of chicago I've seen so far msuic-wise are downtown... spundae / purefuture promoted events.
[Vision, Transit, Zentra etc]...
but it's rough to make it down there, as I'm up in Milwaukee.
Anyways, where did you hear Layo and Bushwhacker were gonna be ^_^? I'm quite amped on seeing those two live...
cheers,

Welcome back. Theres a lot of talent coming into Chicago lately. Spundae and PURE are two of the big promoters. Check out purefuture.com in their forums for a lot of events. A lot of us are going to Tiesto. You should come out if you can. |
