| Currently we have two computers in my basement... internet but no router... so we just switch the internet cable back and forth.. lately my internet has been acting up on my computer. Programs like soulseek, counter strike, internet explorer, outlook express work.. but then msn messenger and kazaalite dont work... whats goin on..i must have some security problem or something |

| what version of windows you runing? got any firewall software? what type of internet conection & modem and you done a spyware scan? |

i run xp... i do spyware scans 3 times a week or so... my comp is safe
no firewall |

is the windows xp firewall disabled? and what internet conection is it?
i would recomend running some form of firewall (apart from the windows xp one) www.zonealarm.com is pretty simple to set up |

goto the network conections, right click on the internet conection and select properties, then select the advanced tab, the first checkbox is for the windows xp firewall, disable it - its useless www.zonealarm is a good replacement
you may need to turn off yoru cable modem and turn it on again, because of the way it assigns ip's, if you still have probs can u get into irc or msn or yahoo? |
