Ok ppl just what the hell is progressive? some ppl say to me that its music that buids up and explodes at the end. Some ppl say that its stuff like gouryella other ppl say its completely different and some ppl say its music that doesn't go anywhere and is just flat like kamaya painters-wasteland or tiesto flight 643. Can someone please tell me before I go INSANE!!!!!

Here we go again...Another Genre War.
You are pretty much right though. Progressive is a track that builds and builds progressively, some good examples are what you have already said (Flight 643) and Mario Piu (Mathmos Black Side).
I wouldn't say Gouryella was progressive entirely, as it is more Epic Trance, but there is nothing saying that Gourella's tracks don't build, so begins everyones definitions of Progressive. But to me Progressive Techno adopts the less is more approach, where you have to dig a bit deeper to enjoy the music. |

^^That is exactly why these threads are such a pain in the arse^^
Carte Blanche is not progressive. That is fluff/epic trance. Progressive trance is done by the likes of Sasha and PVD.
It is a fine line to walk...trying to describe what exactly progressive is, because there are many genre's of "progressive" There is progressive house, progressive trance...progressive tech-trance and sooooo on and soooo forth. |

| Man how the hell can Veracocha - Carte Blanche be progressive!!!!!!!! just cuz it builds up???!?! i think u guys have totally missed the whole progressive idea here. If u listen to tracks like Sandstorm - The Return of Nothing, Trancesetters - Roaches and Bedrock - Voices u will see what progressive is. Basically imo it means that track doesn't explode at any point it keeps building and building layer upon layer. A simple but quite easy way to tell a progressive track (though not always true) is after a drum roll in a uplifting track it will usually break out with a new riff or the same with a bassline. Whereas in a progressive track it will go back to the same beat as b4. Some people may not agree wiv this but it is quite true for many tracks. |

im sick of arguing about this... progressive is in this thread
this is deeper prog than a lot of it... progressive is sooo wide, and it doesnt all have the same kind of sound/structure/stylee in every tune like most other types of trance/house... heres some other choonz
Blaze - My Beat (Ambassador mix)
Reflektive - Echoes
Conjure One - Redemption (Dead Sea Mix)
Pollon - Lonely Planet
MIKE - Gotta Have It (Club Mix)
Ambassador - One Of These Days
when u listen to these u will realise how diverse it is, it has elements of loads of other types of trance, like it has some good uplifting bits.. deeper sounds, random noizes n stuff.. this is why its so hard to put into words what progressive is.
