Speaking as a WI native it used to be sooo easy.. there used to be a Hooter's a couple blocks from Pure... now that one is closed, so the absolute primo place for a meeting up beforehand is gone. They put in an Applebee's in the neighborhood though, so that still provides some possibility...
Just got to Pure last week, have wanted to go for months now, but timing was never right. Not too large, drinks are somewhat expensive, but reasonable. Lighting is nice though, sound is very good (loud enough to leave my ears ringing the next morning, but never painfully loud, and quite clear) though very light on seating. But for PvD.. who's really going to be sitting down much? Overall though a great place but can Milwaukee really draw a crowd on a Monday night? |

hmm... working 2 blocks from Pure day in and day out, let me just state that applebees sucks hard. Service is slooooooooooow... I gotta check the hours but the calderone club like (~3 blocks from pure) is another option. Great italian food (a bit pricy) plus bar on the inside.
Otherwise there's all of the water street food / bar joints like 3-4 blocks away.
Anyways, I'm not necessarily against applebees... but I'll say now they play for the B team.

heh I haven't been to that applebee's, but I'll take your word for it. The Italian place sounds nice, I'm pretty sure I've seen it, but Water Street isn't much of a walk from Pure also. You have a lot more options, #1 on my list would probably be bw3. Sure they have good hot wings, but what's more important, the wings or the fact that they actually have probably the best prices for beers in that whole section of town. (aside from the little corner bar Harp, small places like that always tend to have better prices though, since they aren't really in direct competition with the "upscale" places)
All in all, that's one of the nice things about Pure, I'd say. It's so close relative to a lot of the other more popular downtown attractions that you don't have to go far to get places. |

I saw on purefuture.com's forums where they were promoting the show and it said july 20th. Was gonna post the same thing. It also says 7.20 on his website. Either way I hope to be there. :D |

Well... just got back from Pure. Just wasn't chicago :/ that place is still finding it's legs. Junior Sanchez went way too pop towards the end of his set.
BUT, barring that and a run in with Bambi on the way home...
I have the deets on PVD.

Tix are $35 and go on sale tommorow @ 1:00 PM.

starts at 8:00 PM... unlike vision they dont' throw you out at closing time (they turned up the lights about 2:15...[bartime in WI is 2:00 AM])
Drink prices were about the same as Vision [~$8 for bottom shelf red bull vodka].
But the place is really damn small... I'm guessing that if they pack people in it'll still be less than 500 total...
Sound system wasn't amazing. A little too loud.
I'm gonna go back monday during lunch to pick up my tix and I'll try to get ticket numbers / set times from the owners.
Hmm... I think that's about it.

$6 for jack and coke, $11 for martinis. I disagree on the sound system though, I found it about right for my tastes.. but then you've not seen my home theater setup.. God bless Denon. (My birthday present to myself, denon 2802 on closeout since the 2803's are out now... :D )
but yeah, the smallness factor is the part I'm most concerned about.. but when you consider how progressive WI is (HAH.. yes, that's sarcasm) maybe that's about what they figure PvD can draw in Milwaukee. Keep in mind.. the 20th is a Sunday. On Friday and Saturday the official bar time is 2:30, the rest of the week it's 2:00. So even if we don't close promptly at 2, alcohol will stop being served at about 1:45 at the latest. I hope they can work a way to stay open a little later, but I honestly doubt it. Anyhow yeah.. about 500 tops may even be a bit generous, I will have to get tix quick, but I need to talk to some friends for sure. What I do know for sure is I don't work, so my being there isn't a problem, it's seeing who all I can drag along with that is the wild card. hehe
The big question is.. if this goes over well, will it make Milwaukee a bigger target for other big name dj's? How about Mauro or Marco, or AvB or Tiesto? We can only hope, us poor WI people |

Okay here is the scoop on tickets.
I talked to Chris, the manager @ Pure, and this is what he said.
Tickets start on sale today (saturday) @ 10am in Milwaukee at Pure (414.273.7873) and Revolutions (414.347.1141). After that, Chris is bringing tickets to Madison to a place called Trim, on West Gorham. Tickets are also going down to Chicago @ Another Level on S. Harlem (not to the Schaumburg store, though). No time has been set for when tickets go on sale in Madison or Chicago, so keep checking back. We need a true TA meetup on a Sunday night for PvD! Tickets are going for cash only, and no online advertising, so it will be true fans only!
P.S - Paul is scheduled to play 12 - 2am, but times are apparently tentative ... I have never heard of either of the opening DJs so hopefully Paul goes on earlier or plays 'til later.
