thanks for suggestions guys.. I knew about canadacomputers before, but wanted to see if there was anything else cheaper.. apparently not!
40GB is more than enough.. prevents me from downloading all sorts of garbage which would needlessy occupy space |

cheaper than canadacomputers!?
use ncix.com out of Vancouver, they have a pricematch function where you can basically match price which basically any other retailler in Canada. so basically all you have to do is find a good price somewhere on the web, try canadacomputers.com, info-materiel.com (price comparaison from montreal), etc..
not to mention you save 7% on PST, although you get shipping, its usually cheaper than that |

Well, my budget was $1500 excluding a monitor, so I built the best rig I could for that price. Mind you, this was in november, and prices have gone down since then.
I'm actually helping a friend get a new computer today... his budget is around $700, and I'm looking to get him a p4 2.4GHz for that price. The key is to not buy Windows, just use a copy you already have, because that adds on another $200 to the price. You can also cut out other things you dont' really need (use your old floppy drive, saves $10, old cd-rom, $50)
Someone who is knowledgeable about brand names and computer hardware can really help out here and give u the best bang for your buck. |
