New Speakers

Hey guys, I'm working this summer and I'm about to retire my 2.1 setup for a 5.1 set of all around speakers. Thing is, I'll be using these for everything (as I can't afford to buy speakers for my decks, computer, and TV atm). I'm gonna be using a mixer to split the various device channels. I know this is far from ideal, but again, I'm broke as hell so this is the best I can do. I won't be playing gigs any time soon so mobility isn't an issue. So far I've been looking at high watt, high end computer 5.1 speakers such as the Logitech Z-680. It seems like a pretty competent system and it comes with a decoder/control station thingy with it which is pretty neat. Plus, its 500 watts. Also, I can get it for about $290 or so with shipping which is ideal. Also, I've been looking at the Klipsch ProMedia THX Certified 5.1 speakers. They're about the same price wise. Anyway, if you guys had any suggestions I'd really appreciate cuz I'll be playing trance more than doing anything else on these things. Thanks.

Here is a brand new item from Alesis, with 450watts RMS(pure power) the other one you mentioned is 500watts but that's peak, not RMS.

It is a bit more. close to 4bills with shipping. If interested I'll find out exact price.

Alright... don't go for the 2.1 or 4.1 version of the Promedias... if you want Dolby Digital decoding for your XBox, DVD's, and other consoles, get the Logitech Z-680's. If an analog-only system is okay, get the Promedia 5.1's. Watts are irrelevant in a measure of loudness -- both get painfully loud in nearfield listening. BTW, how are you going to split the channels, exactly?
