MSN Messenger 6.0 Beta available for download

as much as i HATE MSN, they've released a beta of their version 6.0 which you can now download. basically the message history that ICQ has always had has now been integrated so you don't need MSN Plus for it anymore, however Plus is currently non-compliant with version 6.0 BETA.

some of the old ICQ features that i'm STILL waiting for to be integrated into MSN which aren't released in this version are:
offline messaging
multirecipient messaging
http portability ie. ICQ2GO
contact list renaming convention
search function for contact list names
user notes in the properties window
floating contact names on desktop
unlimited multifile sending including folders
file transfer resume
incoming message indicator on the contact list
allow the user to view the user profile of an incoming "add contact" request
POP3 email notification
keyboard shortcuts for openning messages and max/min the contact list window
kudos to MSN version 5.0 for finally supporting Universal Plug and Play which ICQ has still yet to do for IP file transferring. one thing that bugs me about this new version tho is that it appears heavier and feels like more of a resouce whore ala ICQ.. altho apparently it's more native to Direct-X 9 so who knows..
btw. to remove adware from the beta 6, juss download and install:

| As much as you HATE MSN, I (L) MSN! :p I'm not anti-ICQ though, still use both :) MSN 5.0 + MSN Plus! is a hard combo to beat.. |

wells i'm not trying to start another IM war here (which has been done so many times) .. juss tryin to keep ppl informed man nothing wrong with that ?? :p
and don't you just love the fact that MSN plus is non-proprietary.. :toothless |

ICQ is a non-secure piece of software... resource hog and all the bad things you don't want are there... if they had an ICQ lite ala msn i would've stayed...
what I like about msn, is its simplicity...
but then i dropped icq also because i had an 90 contacts big list that was driving me insane with 20 msg/ min...
i have now 63 contacts in msn, i might drop msn all together soon too... wastes too much the time I don't have :(
at the end I prefer emails because its asynchrone... |
