Steve Helstrip blew the roof off of Exit! Never have I heard a flow of such amazing trance. The guy just kept throwing down some of the newest best tunes out. Not just normal new trance songs. I'm talking all Stealing Beauty/Proceed like tunes. A couple of oldies like Synaesthesia were played. Alex has the tracklist. Now for the best part
AFTERHOURS
OK, driving home Alex gets lost, and takes us across the Tribourgh Bridge. With that we get a full tour of NY State. Sites include Randalls Island, Shea Stadium, and some unknown, unused, abandoned bridge. Pictures will be posted soon of not only Thrillseekers, but all afterhour events also.
ps. Daniella nice new Auto, nice triptronic! |

when i read the subject line of the thread, i was like wtf? randall's island?! haha there actually was an afterhours party that the EZDs were going to (i think) but that was totally another thing..
when we ignored the crowds from prom and the FOBs and the ty sound system that made my ears bleed (i felt like i had cotton in them this morning!), then i had a really good time :haha:
gaaf did a Great job and i seriously think that he's a more-skilled dj than steve helstrip (well it's also a fact that gaaf has been djing longer than steve too!)
steve helstrip was so COOL! we got to go in the booth -- bc there is literally No door on the booth-- and every so often this huge black bouncer would come over and kick us out, even when i was taking pics of gaaf and gaaf said that i was with him.. ugh, exit.. what else is new, really? the bouncer would put a garbage can in front of the doorway of the booth :haha: as if that was gonna stop people from going in there.. wtf?! :wtf: LMAO!
as tom said, steve was dropping the newest, best out there- we couldn't ID half the stuff! :eyes: it was totally cheese-free too.. totally energetic and melodic trance.. you TAs really missed out!! the 5 of us had a lot of fun, i must say.. we stuck together! :toothless so i was really glad i went.. oh yea, and steve has the cutest lil shimmy/dance when he's spinning.. it's so funny!! he Totally gets into it! he seemed like he was having a fooking great time! :disbelief
of course, i totally went BUCK NUTTY when i heard Synaesthesia being mixed in.. omfg.. i started to scream and all the high schoolers and FOBs looked at me like i was a weirdo for liking the music that much.. :stongue: i just hopped/skipped/jumped/bounced the entire time, screamed and whistled my ass off.. that song Always gets me.. i had the chance to tell steve that too..basically i was like "steve, i just wanted to tell you that you made my favorite song of all time!" (and he totally has no ego, so it's great) so he's like "way to go, mate!" hahahah..
oh yea !!! we agreed yesterday-- steve helstrip looks like a british-shorter-tubbier version of victor dinaire!! something about the face, they look similiar!
i'll post pics as soon as i upload! :tongue2 |

It wasn't very crowded. At 2am there was no line to get inside. There was an average amount of people with plenty of room to move around. Most of the second floor was closed just leaving a walkway to the coatcheck. Security didn't even seem very strict. |

| hah yea, i had alot of fun las nite. the vibe las nite at exit was ed up though. theres sailors walking around, prom people walkin around, guidos walkin around and the usual asian invasion walkin around its like WTF is going on? I thought it was cool that we got in the dj booth. Gaaf put up a sick set, played alot of good melodic breaks like: infusion - legacy (junkie xl remix), momu - donner pass, miro - i run to and some other goodies. Steve's set was also real good, though he didn't drop affinity or sholan - can u feel now (thrillseekers mix) but he did drop synathesia which did make my night. The dj who closed was a bit annoying he played trance than all of a sudden starts droping hard style tony draper , that was a cue for us to get the out of there lol. The drive home was hilarious somehow alex got on the triboro bridge than went into randalls island lol, unplanned ta sight seeing :D . tom took pics of the adventure, tom u better post the pic of the confusing sign lol, ima crack up when i see it lol. Good seeing the 4 ta's that showed up other than myself: alex, daniela, tom & lisa. |

the music was real excellent. not sure who the opener was, but he was laying down some good . thrillseekers dropped some goodies including Southern Sun. Too bad I was too drunk to dance and rememeber everything.
crowd was funny though. sailors macking on the little prom girls. watching the little prom girls walking away with the sailors. little tricks...they start young. =p asian invasion wasn't too bad either. it was a good thing that there was an asian party at Roxy going on the same night, so there weren't too many. i'm asian, but I can't stand all those damn fobs.
next good party i need to meet all you peeps.

jk - :tongue2 - I said I would post the tracklist:
Here we go:
The Thrillseekers (Steve Helstrip) @ Exit (05-23-2003) Tracklist:
1) Scott Bond vs. Solar Stone - 3rd Earth [Deep Blue]
2) Cultivate - Broken Pieces (Max Graham's Third Street Remix) [Lost Language]
3) Mike Shiver feat. Hanna - Feelings (Instrumental Mix) [??] - Thanks Chris on IDing this
4) Sonorous - Protonic (Ronski Speed Mix) [Euphonic]
5) ID - ID
6) Tom and I believe to be a track Victor threw down at Arc - Jacob & Mendez - Deception (Original Mix) [ID&T]
7) ID - ID - this may be a new Steve Helstrip influenced track - sounded like his sound a lot
8) Darren Tate & Jono Grant - Let The Light Shine Through (Vocal Mix) [Mondo]
9) ID - ID - reallly gooood Track
10) ID - ID - Daniela said she thought it's a track called Eleven
11) Aalto - Rush (Original Mix) [Anjunabeats]
12) At this point, I got so into his set i wasnt writing for every track - pretty sure he played 1 track here which was an ID - ID for me then .....
13) The Thrillseekers - Synaesthesia (En-Motion Remix) [Neo Recordings]
14) then maybe 3 songs i think - all ID - ID
15) ID - ID
16) ID - ID - Tom and I believe this is where he played new track Sublime that he has done with Ferry Corsten
17) Eon - Pocket Damage [Tsunami]
18) Kansai - Roccocco (Original Mix) [Platipus]
19) and a maybe another 4 songs after this - all ID - IDs for me - hehe
20) ID - ID
21) ID - ID
22) ID - ID
After Roccocco, Steve played just gorgeous unknowns as far as i'm concerned. Tom believes that one of his last tracks was an old Green Martian track. Then of course a Tony Draper protege took over. Highlight of night for me was also Synaesthesia.
All TAs who came - I had a great time last night - and Gaaf - thanks so much for signing the TA shirt.
Later everyone

Let me just add that I think Insigma - Avalon is one of the unknowns, along with Rapid Eye - Stealing Beauty (Ronald Van Gelderen Remix). Arturo tells me that Steve Helstrip has produced a new unreleased single along with Jacob & Mendez. This might be another one of the unknowns.
Near the very end I heard Bq Express - Feeling So Good and then some hard remix of M-Factor - Mother. It might have been the closing DJ and not Helstrip though. |
