| In the scene where Trinity is bringing down the powergrid, she SSH's to root on the terminal. UNIX does not allow you to SSH to root. |

| haha, when i was watching this i nearly screamed when i saw that.. because i recognized the program (more specifically SSH) that was running... she actually exploits a real vulnerability in SSH v1, CRC32 (which you can see she made her own little crack for). Albeit this was patched a like 3 years ago, you have to remember in the matrix its still 2000-2001 (:-D) |

I don't think so, in the real world they don't know the year.. and in the matrix morpheus seems to indicate that it is at the 'height' of human civilization or something like that, im sure you can find the reference in the first movie. but the matrix and the 'real world' (which is really another matrix it seems) are asynchronous as far as timelines go |

| Well, even nowadays, we do have old banking mainframes and such from the 80's era... hence the whole confusion with the y2k 'bug'. Why would a power company need anything more than a good ol' genuine 'nix box to power their operations? :D |

I hate the way the hacker image is portrayed in ur average film. So bolloxy and makes me wanna puke. especially in that film swordfish. Tryin to decrypt somethin.. Oh my lord that was so pathetic. If hackin had nice big visual aids every retard would be capable of it.

Where yer man's typin away like crazy?? And there's a big cube on the screen, and he's tryin to decrypt something? ..not what hackin's about..
How would i portray it? Maybe a person sittin at a computer with with a nice big black screen with a $ prompt. Typing their commands.
