How IRC Literate are you?

| Just a question because I have an idea on how to distribute live sets. I want to set up an fserve for distributing live sets of local TOTA talent. Since badnwidth on HTTP Protocol are a bitch and a half I figured why not do it through IRC. If the pole shows there are more ppl who have NO CLUE what I am talking about Documents and instructions will be distributed here (or anyone who wants to post a link here) :D. |

| That's actually a good idea, I'd definatly serv some sets. Only problem is people need to be familiar with a command line interface, and the windows generation of people tend to be scared by that hehe |

^ whoopie, so can the authors of the other 10 million fserve scripts. :p
Anyway, yeah, I'm IRC literate, including eggdrops and bitchx and all that, but personally I think DCC is a garbage protocol and should not be used for any serious file serving. Low speeds, low security, yada yada... just set up an FTP server, E*Master, that'll alleviate the HTTP issues. |

ya me too. its more discreet. Irc is gonna take up a bit too much bandwith if you want to send one whole file. with ftp, you can upload it to the person without sacraficing too much bandwith.and there is always the chance of a netsplit from irc. |

yeah but with FTP I have more control over the ppl DLing off me and who is queing what and I can mask myself. With FTP I gotta have my PC on all the time. With IRC other ppl can join in the fun and help out with the Sets. and I mean ONLY TA dj sets (focused more on Toronto scene tho). I don't like FTP cause every1 has the same login and I can;t see who is DLING off me by Screen name. Hence IRC it is. So I will let in more details once I set it up. Prbably Sunday nite :D. Thank u for all those that voted. Help links iwll be posted as well with it.
Anyone else interested in Serving or giving me THEIr sets (with Cue file plz) gimme a PM :D |

| Why not just use the hub? It already has the infrastructure set up, and other people can have the sets shared to spread out bandwidth usage. |
