with their ing studio ? :whip: :whip: :whip:

Don't you wonder sometimes what all those people do who have some awesome hardware synths at home or maybe a complete studio ? Shouldn't they be able to create really awesome tracks compared to those who just own one PC with crappy headphones... ?

THere are lots of so called pros out there with expensive equipment, know how, musical experience, mixing skills and contacts to labels...

And what are they doing ? Standard trance tunes, producing for weeks on a track which sounds like thousand others. ( perhaps they just need the money and try to make a commercial sound in order to sell some more vinyls or they just lost their creativity ? )

What sound would YOU create if you had the studio of your dreams ?

Pretty much the same I do know, I presume. I don't think the tools create the sound... so if you suck as a producer it doesn't matter what your studio is like, you'll still suck :)

Yeah! Just look at ATB. ;)

No matter how talented u are, u'll always want more synths, sample cdz and stuff.
Maybe they don't need all that stuff but it sure makes the time in the studio more enjoyable. :)

I think. :D

Yeah, and it always gives you more room to experiment.

I feel sometimes like its a see-saw between creativity and techinical improvements.... Like I swear sometimes, the more time I spend on getting a sound perfect, downloading sample cd's, learning new software, the more 'serious' i feel about the whole thing, and the less ideas flow for me.... And then if I relax on that for a bit, the music, and the ideas start to come back to me... So for me personally I just wish I was magically a super producer, with all these great synths kind of handed over to me, so I could just focus on creating.

I don't know, maybe its just me, but because of this I can totally understand some people who are like incredible lords of equpiment, yet make nothing better than mediocre songs.

this has gotten me angry a couple of times before
lets take for exampl the klubbheads (no offence) they have a huuuge studio, and what music do they produce!? its in crap!! (again, no offence:p) why o why do they need all this equipment 2 make that crap music? meanwhile i`d luv a synth or something 2 boost my productions a bit, and i have 2 work a lot for that:whip:

its just so unfair!

No....they shouldn't.

In my opinion the difference between hardware and software setup is in the way of working, in the process, not in the result.

I keep expanding my setup to make the creation of music more interesting, not to make the music more interesting. Some may believe it makes the music better, but that bubble will pop eventually for all.

Having lots of great ideas is more important than having lots of great kit. I know that point has already been made, but IMO that's the main thing to say here :)

Another thing I believe is that knowing what kit you do have very well is much more important than having more kit. If (for example) you bought 10 new synths tomorrow what the hell would you do with them? You honestly think you'd be able to program up some patches on every one of them and use them all in a new track after 24 hours???

i really like ATB's first album, the first album i really could listen to non-stop, the whole album through a couple of years ago when it came out, since then he's had a special place in my heart and became one of the reasons why i started to listen to trance and am where i am right now.. ok, after what is it now? 3 albums his "sound" is becoming a bit old, and yes.. his studio is kind of awesome in the pictures that i he has on his website (is it really just HIS??) :conf:

then look at rank1's studio (the pictures i've seen on the live webcam.. it looks kind of like ma cellar :)

well, i don't need to say what's allready been said here, i agree with you guys that there are alot of producers with massive studios probably and produce kind of boring stuff.. but then, it all comes down to contacts and in some cases, money :) i guess that's all there is to become an "ordinary" producer right? :)

I have heard that using hardware you can get better sound quality than with computer-based setup..

Seriously now, i think it's all done so those producers will feel good with themselves and see their own importance.. Why the hell do they need so many effect racks for example when you have more than enough in a single Pulsar?

Having several synths is more justified.. after all every synth has its own unique sound which can't be synthesized by other synths.. So the producer usually starts out with a single hardware synth, maybe two, and progresses into more, because he needs to add more variation and create more sounds as he writes newer tracks.

that's for sure, and you get more lazy from day to day... why create your own drumloops if you got plenty of them in high quality at a new sampling CD.

This is what I mean. And there are lots of people with their own studio and a crappy sound :whip: ...

haha nice quote

Perhaps some people don't like using a pc for that kind of stuff? Anyways, I highly doubt that anyone who is serious about making music does just buy effects for "importance"....especially since.....it doesn't make them more important, and secondly, nobody fokkin cares how many FX you have (ok some do  )

Some people own a real expensive nice car, but can't drive for . Ah well. If they enjoy driving it, who am I to judge them.
