The live PA...( PA stands for performing artist)...is essential to the birth of a new scene. Most electronic music fans (house, trance, techno, breaks, etc) are natural critics. Reflector's vision is that one day, producers will emerge and bring out their gear and perform it as it was recorded. They will express with emotion, passion, and determination their raw electrical musical talent....Till that day...

It would be very very hard to preform a song as it was created.. if not impossible.

as a producer, it takes many hours to complete a track.. the forming of each element takes time, and it would essentially be impossible to compose a decent track "on the fly".

Also how can you play all the elements of a track live at the same time? You can only use one keyboard at a time..

PA stands for 'performance act' ...

Anyways, live PAs to me are much more entertaining than DJ sets. Although I have only seen Infusion/Grayarea do live PAs, they get so into the sets and it's very cool to see them put together the songs you love right in front of your eyes, not just play them off of wax.

That's what makes Reflector amazing, is that he is performing the tracks live as it was created!!! did you check out those Reflector video clips?

I've seen Deepsky live and they are incredible. I would love to see some more of that. By the way, they were playing every element to their songs and mixing them in as well, it was incredible. I don't know how though, but they had all the up on stage, and one of em was going wild on the drum machine. It was very mint!
I'd post a pic of mine if I knew how!

I've seen many artists before "preform live", and all they did was act like they were making the track right there on stage.

I guess it's possible to actually do it though.. I know the chemical brothers are famous for this. and that korg guy that worked on the blade soundtrack using all the electribe series and a kaoss,, he was pretty crazy,, but esentially all he was doing was triggering recorded patterns, and adjusting some things like delay fx and frequencies.

To actually play a song live would require alot of skill, alot of co-ordination, and alot of equipment.

I'll take a look at those reflector clips you're talking about!

I saw Rabbit in the Moon and they were amazing... of course Bunny was the whole show, but some things you just cant do with a DJ and two turntables. Still, the problem with a lot of PA's is that they most always have a pre-determined show. DJ's have the luxury of making every set unique and differet, as well as taking the music in different places that before. Of course, theyre still just playing the wax and not the song, but DJ'ing still takes a load of skill.

Yea they maybe great but there is so much effort involved in doing them. Rank 1 for example took months to prepare their liveact for Trance Energy as did Nu-NRG when preparing their's for Gatecrasher. The nxt PA's i see will be from Push and also K90. Don't think anyone will ever be able to top the Nu-NRG Live PA i witnessed tho. Amazing. Underworlds was pretty good to.

Live PAs are great, but I'll always prefer dj sets for trance just because a dj has the ability to be more versatile and diverse by playing other people's music, while live PAs are more limited in the sense that they can mainly play what they have made. This can be a bit monotonous some times.

The greatest live PAs i've seen were definitely Underworld and Massive Attack, in trance all i've seen were Cygnus X in Trance Energy and Push. Push was alright, but still, not nearly as amazing like Underworld and such.

In my honest opinion, I think it would be way cool to hear vocals live... kinda like how they did it at Sensation with...uh.. whats her butt, well I can't remember her name, but she did a fantastic job singing, and it was quite dramatic, and pretty epic... but... I mean. I don't think it really matters one way or another...
