ya? What gear do you use and how do you use it (if not obvious). Do you play live shows too? How do you pull that off? Mixing other people songs doesn't count, guys...
I've recent become interested in making electronic music over the past two years and am now deeply into it. A friend told me about this forum and figured I'd see who was up in here.

Welcome to TA CyC :D I produce trance using a piece of software called reason (dunno if you've heard of it) it's got pretty much everything you need as far as software goes, the only drawback is it costs £300 (last time I checked).... If you're just starting out, download the demo of fruityloops here and have a play about ;)

We don`t use software synths anymore, their too limited we think.
I see that the Fruityloops 3 have become really popular among the trancaddict members, but that`s just really cool. I remember when Rebirth was released, everybody was making jamming rebirth songs with 303s and the 808&909. And the 909 drum machine is still working fine I think!
As equipment we use Korg Z1,Yamaha CSX6,Yamaha R1MX,Jp8080 and a Novation Nova. For software we use Cubase 5 and Wavelab 3. The only thing we miss is a good sampler!
Check out some releases; http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...6559#post116559 ;););):D:D:D |

I've been making music since `92. But only started making trance at the end of 99. I use the following:
Sequencer - Cakewalk Pro Audio (I should upgrade because there is a new version now)
Main Synth - Roland XP-30
Other synths - Alesis QSR(not very good for trance)
Korg 01 r/w
Emu APS soundcard sampler
some software synths
Sonic Foundary Acid
I really need a good synth for trance arppegios.

TraNcerke,
The XP30 has a decent Arppegiator, but it isn't programable or at least I can't figure anyway to program it. I need something that has a little more control. Maybe an EMU Xtreme Lead. |

The EMU Lead works well... of the few I've tried. I fell a bit in love with the Novation Supernova MK2 a while back. It's got loads of good stuff on it...
I'm currently using a Roland MC-307, but it's only for 'experiments', creating my own appregios on it... a really underrated piece of kit actually. Made one track on it this afternoon, and it's got great samples and good effects on it. The factory-default appregiators on it aren't so fascinating, tho...
Btw, anyone recommend the Novation SuperbassStation? Need good basslines... (or any other synth that gives off a good, deep bass sound) |
