There was a good editorial piece in the WSJ yesterday that addressed this issue. I can't seem to dig it up online as I can't remember the author or the title, but it addresses the Wolfowitz quote, as well as points out that it was somewhat taken out of context (i.e. it ignores what he said immediately following the first quote. Not picking sides here, just pointing out that it's not that cut and dry of an issue. |

No, but it was the only legitimate reason the US presented. |

Exactly. Aside from the "alleged" vast array of weapons that Iraq was threatening the world with (which may have given justification for a "pre-emptive" strike on Iraq) what other legal justification was there for war? You may say it was only because Saddam was being "stubborn" and that a military incursion was permissable under Resolution 1441, but if even Hans Blix - the leader of the people charged to find these weapons - said that Iraq was making "progress" and gave absolutely no indication that the inspection team were being hindered beyond any possibility of being able to their job (or that there was any indication that Iraq had any weapons programs), then what possible legal justification was there? Quite apart from the fact that the war was never cleared by the UN Security Council?
There may have been other reasons for attacking Iraq, but any other legally permissable reasons? |

Well... if the Bush administartion takes the care to actually rebuild Iraq and the region for the better of humanity then the egg will be on their plate...
However now its more like blood is on their hands and is in their underpants. |

Right.... but those some made it clear that Iraq had the WMD and something had to be done about it. As far as I can remember, thats what it was all about, besides the war on terrorism... but Im sure it was more then WMD:crazy: |
