we did the mix in jan 2002 and just before they were ready to promo it, oakey calls us telling us they're recording new vocals and that we have to change our mix. we were not happy since we felt that the original was a perfect song. but then again, we're just a couple of dark ******s who love sad songs. begrudgingly, we did it because we had no choice. oakey said that maverick didn't think the song could get on the radio with the original lyrics so they made him go back and write/record new ones. i suppose maverick know best, because party 93 had our mix at #1 on thei r playlist for 3 weeks in march of this year...
josh and i are working on dave gahan's next single called "i need you" right now...

thanks a lot for the infos. it is sad to hear that maverick did not like the original lyrics, specially cause they thought it might not do well. argh!
I do agree they were better, and still are.

That was what I suspected. The production with the original lyrics is one of my all-time favorite tracks. It has so much more depth of emotion and flows with the music so much better.
