Well, I just got a decent pair of headphones for the first time in my life (Sony MDR-V600) and man.. does it make a difference !!! Music sounds totally different, much much better.. And these ones are pretty comfortable too(that's the reason I chose them over grado-SR60, which I thought sounded better) I know true audiophiles will probably say there are far better headphones out there(LOL, I've tried some Grado model that costs over 1000CAD), but I think these ones it's a pretty good start!
So yeah, if you don't have a decent pair of headphones yet, do yourself a favour and invest! Such a big difference!
EDIT. I'm sitting here listening to first couple of tracks on Tiesto's Nyana - and I'm even liking it!! Before I thought those tracks were ok, not anymore - they sound amazing now! hehe |

| V600's or V6's? Just my opinion (which is widely shared among a lot of audiophiles) but I think you would prefer the V6's (or Sony 7506's) over the V600s. I personally had experience with all V### series phones, and I personally own a pair of V6's. The V6's cost just as much as the V600's. The V### series of headphones from Sony are known for their overexaggeration of low frequencies and lack of comfort over prolonged periods of use. The V6's, with a little modification of the ear pads, are simply amazing for the price. But I don't want to ruin your experience of your new upgrade -- almost anything sounds and feels better if all you've been using in the past were inexpensive headphones! Have fun with your new toy :) |

Yep the mdr 7506's are what I wanttttttttttttttttt. Apparently they are REALLY damned good. Either those or the Sennheiser hd 25's (or maybe I'd go for the 280s Senn's) |

btw .. V6s = 7506s (they just have different stickers on the sides of the cups! i.e. one's "DIGITAL" the other says "PROFESSIONAL") |

| I picked up a pair of Sennheiser HD212Pro's about a year ago and i haven't looked back since! for about $50 USD they are a good deal... dunno if they would stand up to DJ'ing in a club tho :P |

i have the 7505 and they are also just as good.
i stayed away from the v#### simply cuz most of them are too heavy where 7505/7506 are so damn light |

i have a Sony MDRV700 J Headphone
The sound quality is awesome, it gets unconformatable after a few hours , really loud headphones.

| I have some antique headphones with pretty big drives (but so far I only repaired the left side), I have Sony 700's, good sounds quality, but uncomfortable and unreliable, and even a bit too loud/bassy. Bought Stanton Pro 2000S(as a spare), they're less bassy but pretty clear and lighter then the sony, but they can only handle one third of sony's so they're a lot easier to blow. |

The MDR-V600's are alright, but their sound quality to price ratio is not that great. At least you didnt waste even more money and buy the 700's ;).
I would have prefered the grados myself, you can buy bigger foam pads off the interent that increase their comfort.
I myself own a pair of AKG K-401's and enjoy their sound, especially paired up with my home build CMoy head amp.
I think the next pair of headphones i will buy will be the Beyer DT770.. supposedly the best headphones for a nice balance of BASS and overall sound quality. |

Iam presuming these are pure digital headphones. cause I know exactly what you mean. If ya got a digital reciever or even better, a digital sound card in your pc man, holy , wait till you hear how it sounds. |
