I think it is really cool that they are contributing to electronic music now, however I dont feel he deserves all of the credit, however He definately deserves it for being the most succesful! How do u TA'S feel about it?

Unique memorabilia display created for the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino commemorating Paul Oakenfold's contribution to electronic music.

Paul Oakenfold has been selected by the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino to join a list of elite musicians that have been honored for their profound influence in music. Some of these legends include; The Beatles, Carlos Santana, Eric Clapton, Elvis Presley, The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Elton John, Al Green, James Brown, Smokey Robinson, Sheryl Crow, Chris Issak, Bruce Springsteen, Nirvana, Sublime, Alanis Morisette, Sara McLachlan, Madonna, Prince, David Bowie and Guns & Roses.

Well, I said this before, but never started a thread about this , but well, my opinion is, Paul Oakenfold, was one, if no thte first european DJ to bring one new sound, TRANCE, he paved the way to the rest of the europeans, clubs, and record labels ( thats what the CLUBS, dance record labels say ) next to sasha and digweed, but Paul Oakenfold has done alot, I mean, his gone to clubs where no one knows him, the 1st time he goes there, there's like maybe 100 peeps, the next time theres more ( as I read ) and his been establishing this music for a while now, so if anything goes in the history of electronic dance music, and who were the main players to really make this massive as it is going now, it would have to be Paul Oakenfold, I mean, this may be a HATED thing for many, but his exposing the music now in the movies, and MTV ( thats what needs to be done in order to have an establish DANCE genre here in the states , electronic dance that is ) .. so I believe he deserves that HONOR!!!!

No Oakenfold certainly doesn't deserve all the credit for bringing trance here. If anything, his remixes of the more popular artists is what has made him more visible in the public eye to even those who don't follow the electronic music movement. Oakenfold seems to give himself enuff credit. America isn't ready for tance? Sorry Paul, its here already and it's going to stay. U've missed the boat already.

Oakie has definately made a contribution to music in general with one of the starters of the acid house scene in 1988. I think the award is richly deserved and I think this is one of many Oakenfold will get in the next year or two.

No disputes that Okaie was invlvoed w/ the start acid house but, what has he done since then? He sound hasn't really evolved and his contribution has been less than people give him credit for. Sure, he was one of the forerunners but, he seems to be running out of gas.
