| I am fully able to mix while stoned. Breakbeats kill me but Mellow is fun when your smoking. I've never spun on any other drugs. I'd think they'd affect me somewhat though. |

Yep, pills u up - my opinion anyways.. Well, they u up to an extent. I dont think i've suffered any long term damage from pills but, the depression just is not worth it. However, before saturday past i hadn't taken a thing in 6-7 weeks, sat nite i took 2, then off to a party + took another, then on sunday nite i took another 2. felf a bit twisted on mon but that can be expected.
I dunno, if i've ever felt i couldn't concentrate, but if i have i've probably been too depressed to noice.. But, i'm still feeling ok with myself! Could it be that over the past 7 weeks i've built up enough seratonin to give me 2 nites out on the pills + still have enough remaining to keep me a happy chappie??

I find my mixing improves on 1 or 1/2 a pill, any more, and it will still seem fine to me, buts thats just coz I'd be too fooked to notice :p
Mixing on a little coke however, safe as !! :D |

You might consider acid/shrooms to be softer drugs (due to lack of real physical effects I assume), but I rate them more powerful than pills or coke could ever hope to be.
Hallucinagenics (spelling?) are by far my fav, but they are also the ones I am the most careful with.
Prolonged LSD usage will mess you up mentally way more than pills, even if you use the average ratio of say 1 trip for every 4 pills.
Take any heavy pill user, divide their total consumption over the years by 4, and imagine if they had taken that many trips over the same amount of time... they would have mental issues. |

well it depends on what you mean by "messed up"
i know a few guys that are what you would call "permafried" on acid, and they don't mind it...
but i do, however, know quite a few guys that got addicted to coke and just couldn't let it go. sad actually. |

Hehe, I didnt mean that pills/coke are good, just that acid/shrooms arent as harmless as ppl often think, s'all :) |

well all i will say (trying not to sound bigheaded) is that im not at djing.. so it cant be bad for it. i have taken breaks of 2 months and not noticed any difference in my djing :)
coke is wank for djing, it makes you think you are good when infact you may be (see judge jules for proof)
another point is that mixing on pills increases ur concentration as you get way more into it etc.. but as i said before if you have more than 2 before mixing you're ed (nice pun :p)

you are right about the permanent affects of e. i dont think i will ever be quite right again. (and it has been 3 years) but as much as i love acid, i wouldnt call that soft by any means. i mean, in my day i used to pop pills for the hell of it but even at my most careless times i wouldnt do that with acid. because that is one of those drugs that you just KNOW how bad it is for your mind.
honestly, on this board i often feel like ppl are making excuses to justify that drug use is ok, but on all honesty, there are bad for you, in moderation or not. you are degrading your brain and your body. sure, you can control it by doing it less but you will be pressed to prove that the physical/mental benefits (if any) outweigh the detrimental effects.
but back to the topic at hand, i cant say if drugs affect djing or not. i mean, i once witnessed a huge positive change in a dj's set, coindentally right after he did a line... but i think it depends on the person. i mean, historically, drugs have been claimed to be mind opening and and many great works of art have been attributed to how ed up the artists were... but is great art/music worth the price you make your mind and body pay? |
