pitch control question

hey everybody. I'm finally going to order my first decks and mixer. I only have one quetsion left. The package I'm getting comes with a behringer VMX300 and 2 Stanton Str8-80s . The pitch control on the Str8-80s goes from +8 to minus 12. Ive noticed that most decks have a +/- 10 pitch control. Does the difference matter? is either one better than the other? I appreciate any help you can give.

Thanks,
Paul

hmm .. if you stick to a style you mostly need about -/+ 5
i have 8 +/-, i used it maybe once at 8

The stantons wont let you down. I had a pair when i first started. They are good and pretty reliable. Ive switched the pitch a couple times to get it quicker, but if you have to pay xtra for that option i would say skip it. +/- 10 is really upper and lower limit of what you need.

Stantons are a very good brand...i use above 8 about once or twice a set but i could get around it if needed. never gone below -5 though cuz it sounds to weird and ed up

You usually don't go any higher or lower than 6%, so the +8% and -12% will do fine :)

well not really because if ur just going to play one type of music u probabaly need not more than 5 % of pitch. but on cd decks u can use 100 percent pitch. for turntables ur probably gonna need about 5 percent max, i think. when i used tt's b4 i just used about 3-4 percent.

the pitch range of those should be fine technics only have -8/+8 and nobody ever complains about technics and there the industry standard so i wouldnt worry about that pitch range
