OK, this is a remix of an amatuer hard house tune from the Section_z website.
turned what was hard and fast into something a lot trancier - it's still in it's first mix at the moment, so all comments and feedback will be greatly appreciated, as you will all know that sometimes you need other people to show you where things aren't right - as the more you listen to your own track the less perspective you have of it.
so please - download from the Section_Z site, and leave me some feedback :D http://www.sectionz.com/detail.asp?rtype=mp3&szid=8204
thanks you people :D |

| Not too fond of the intro. I like the bass. oh man, 2:20 owns. I think this track needs more percussion. It sounds kinda empty. Not really liking the sample for the lead, but i like the lead it self. I think 8:52 is a little too long, and you can cut out a lot of the begining i think. Nice work. 7/10 |

thanks :D
just what i wanted to hear actually - i got to the end of my sequencing last night and i saw it was almost 9mins :nervous: i was aiming for around 7:30 or something.
and i'll try and add a bit of percussion ( i had a chopped up loop in the background but it's drowned out) |

The intro is a tad long, and the 2:20 mark, the buildup is wicked, then it kinda flattens out so to speak. I mean, the buildup whispered so much, then not much got added..
Like the guy above said, song needs some umph, something more to it, more energy or percussion or something to fill it out. And 8:52 is a tad long considering the song doesn't change a heck of a lot after the 2:20.
Overall, its a good job mate, haven't heard the original mind u.
I give it 6.5/10
Just go back and add more depth to it, fill out the sound more. I don't mean add 800 little trinkets in, just add 1 or 2 solid loops or something. Shorten the intro, and when that 2:20 buildup finishes, knock me off my socks man, =D
Then again Im not a pro reviewer, so take my advice with a lot of salt grains =) |

UPDATED
changed the synth patch - which no-one liked (not even me) shortened the intro to 8 measures rather than 16, shortened the outro - and cut some stuff out of the middle :stongue: running time is now 7:46
added extra percussion and some more bassline :D huge differnce i think
also reduced the use of the vocal sample. |

The only thing I don't like about this tune is the drum/bass section up until 2 minutes... it's sort of "clunky" (I can't think of any better word) and doesn't create that driving feeling. Maybe a different bass pattern or some different kind of percs would help...
Otherwise it's a good production, although not really my genre. Maybe apply some EQ/effect to it so it'd sound less harsh.
BTW - that crash sample you've used sounds strangely lo-fi. Is that intentional? |

not really - i'm crap at choosing cymbal samples - and i don't have that many - i'm going to try using Reason from now on, as i have lots of good refills with plenty of good drum kits.
i'm not really happy with the build up to the first break myself either - i think i might need to change the bassline - i don't think it's suits that kind of 4/4 beat.
Thanks for the advice :D |
