Hey,
I'm trying to install php Gallery, the same one used on Malek's site, but I'm having problems with the database, and other things.
I was wondering if anyone could help me with it !? cuz I'm using a web provider, not my own server which makes it harder also.

Ok, well, right now the only problem I have is:
- I'm not able to install the database, and therefore, can't complete the installation of the gallery !
Do you have msn by any chance Malek, I think it'd be easier ? |

Gallery has not been configured!
Gallery must be configured before you can use it. First, you must put it into configuration mode. Here's how:
Unix with shell access
% cd /path/to/your/gallery
% sh ./configure.sh
Unix with FTP access
ftp> chmod 777 .htaccess
ftp> chmod 777 config.php
ftp> chmod 755 setup
Windows
C:\> cd \path\to\your\gallery
C:\> configure.bat
And then start the Configuration Wizard If you experience problems, you should seek help on the Gallery Help Page

It's also asking me to install NetBPM, ImageMagick, and jhead, and yeah, I downloaded the source files but dunno what to do.

you don't need a database for gallery ;)
and about config.php i think you should read from the start, they'll tell you where to get it :) |

| yo malek i wanna set-up a gallery too but in pbase doesn't accept more than 10mb , any suggestion ? |

| get a real host but 10 megs is not bad if you recompress your pictures so they take less space :P |

salut ronger
premièrement, je ne crois pas que ton web provider te fournira tous les outils nécessaires pour installer Gallery. Optimalement, tu as besoin d'un serveur qui supporte le php, d'un accès shell au serveur (on peut difficilement s'en passer, même lorsqu'il te dise que tu peux tout faire par un accès ftp.)
par défaut je considère que NetPBM n'est pas installé sur les serveurs d'hébergement. C'est pourquoi il faut habituellement le downloader, l'extracter sur le serveur et ensuite entrer la location des executable de NETPBM dans la configuration de Gallery.
Tu as le choix d'installer netpbm ou ImageMagik. Un des deux. Personnellement j'utilise netpbm. pour ce qui est de jhead, c'est optionnel. je ne l'ai même pas installé, Malek pourra dire si j'aurais dû ou si ce n'est vraiment qu'un gadjet.
donc en ayant un accès shell tu n'as qu'à suivre les indications suivantes:
Unix with shell access
% cd /path/to/your/gallery
% sh ./configure.sh
ensuite tu ouvre Internet Explorer, tu te connectes sur ta Gallery et à ce moment tu pourras tout configurer et voir le system checkup qui te dira quels éléments sont manquants sur ton serveur.
quand tu en seras là (si tu t'y rends..perso je ne crois pas qu'un webhost public ou celui de ton provider te fournira un acces shell..) , postes nous les résultats du system checkup.
Je ne peux que vous conseiller fortement d'opter pour un package que je vous offre, je ne fais même pas un sous dessus.
Je vous offre un nom de domaine .com .net ou .org pour un an, autant d'email @votredomaine.com que vous le voulez, un Gallery déjà tout installé et configuré et un hébergement web de 150mo pour 1 an le tout pour seulement 70$CAN. C'est mon serveur à moi, il est situé à Dallas sur un lien 100mbits et vous pouvez voir des exemples ici:
Ex. de vitesse de download: www.razernet.com/temp
Ex. de la possibilité de faire rouler des programmes + scripts: www.razernet.com/att
C'est un serveur sous forme de coopérative, donc pas de profits sont générés.
Et bien sur vous pourrez héberger ce que vous voulez dessus.. pas juste Gallery..

Merci pour tout les renseignements, j'ai essaye plusieurs fois mais ca m'a l'air trop complique.
Alors, j'ai juste fait un gallery en javascript.
Je vais garder les info que vous m'avez donnes de toute facon, on sait jamais.
