where do they come from, are they recorded by the club owners or do others record them without club management or dj knowing? I'm very curious as to how this is done
Floorfiller
people here on the boards usually record the web radio broadcasts and make them available to us all....and god bless them :) hehehehe

Radio sets re. Sometimes they're broadcast over the net through radio and someone records them.;) Btw, how's Nicosia?
ratz
from wat im told... every set is pretty much recorded by the club managemnt... or the dj them selves... an theres also a few sets that get bootlegged with a mini disc recorder... but most of the sets are radio rips

hmm ok, I was guessing that maybe someone from the crowd would record it on minidic or smtng since quality is a bit low in most sets

Say I wanted to rip a set from a DJ! What should I get and where can I get it? Is it legal? How can the quality be good and the crowd noise low or off? I know this is too many questions, but I could be the future Ripper from L.A.:D

The only way to achieve good sound quality is to have a direct feed from either the mixer or other mixing equipment.

well first off you can get them from differant web sites ( www.tranceaddict.com being 1 of them)... or file sharing programs... kazaa being 1 of them... or you can rip them live yerself wile there on live... or you can find some 1 to trade with which is how i got most of mine...
im assuimg its legal cause there usally on live radio... the ones that are bootlegged cant be too legal... but no 1 really cares... its like bootlegging a concert i suppose... every 1 has a thought on it...
as for crowd noice... it depends on what kinda recording it is... an honestly... i feel a dj set sounds better with crowd noice on... but when its on the radio i suppose that... cause there are sets that are live yet have no crowd...

The crowd noise in my opinion adds to the set and makes it better. Its when you get those stupid MC's shouting crap over tunes it spoils them. Who invented them anyway? :D

Why would it be illegal to tape it? I'd expect taping live sets is similar to taping movies or something off of TV in that you can't sell it but it's fine to share/watch?
