Some good tips :)
I also layer kicks, and basically just play around. I always have a 7 band eq, and a compressor on the kick mixer channel, i also use a second paramatix eq sometimes.
I also sometimes layer up to 5 different kicks, but when i do this the levels are always adjusted a fair bit :) |

This is seriously the best advice you can get, LOL. I was having a serious problem getting "professional" sounding kicks, so I just ripped off numerous kicks, started layering and EQ'ing them until they were good and not blatant ripoffs. I guess this is frowned upon, I don't really care though =) |

everybody steals kicks though including professionals, most people nicking from pvd, not me though - oh no, much prefer summat a little more aggressive
also if u want them "hardcore as " kicks all u do is turn the sample amp right up, then export the sample really quiet so it is distorted but isn't if you know what i mean ;) |
