hey guys, I have a soundforge question.
ive seen some of similar thread. anyway here is my question.
i make my mix cd with the program, and when i cut them up into tracks, there are gaps between the tracks when i burn them onto a cd.
i wanted to know if any of you guys know how to cut them into tracks without making those gaps. thaks
whitesmoke
make sure when you burn the cd you burn it as "disc at once" and not "track at once." "track at once" puts a 2 second gap betweem tracks.

i set it up so it won't make these 2 second gap. howevr,
it still makes little tiny gaps that are noticable. should i cut them where there is no sound at all or Im doing something wrong?
thanks

use soundforge for cutting if u which but burn with nero .when u drag ur tracks onto the compilation highlight all tracks (except the 1st one) select properties and change the value to 0 secs between tracks.
i cant be arsed with cue sheets ,this method works fine 4 me:toocool:

The way that I suggest you record and track your mixes is the following:

Use Soundforge to record the mix, then normalize it to increase the volume. After you save the set as one big file, then go through the mix and note the exact times which your transitions end. It is at this time that you want the track to switch. Make sure you don't put the track start time at the begining of the transition or in the middle because it will sound like . This is how it is done in the industry anyway.

From there you'll know all of the times of the tracks. These are called cue points, which you can either make a cue file with, or have a program do it for you. Either way, you need these times to track the set.

Programs that will track the set for you include Nero Burning ROM, which I personally use and like very much and plenty of other programs. You can go to www.cnet.com and go to the downloads sections to look at many different shareware programs offered for download.

Depending on the program, you will either need to write a .cue file or you can enter times into the program, as I stated earlier. You can surely find this information pretty easily buy searching for .cue

A good site I just found for you is here:

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/mstiller/cue.htm

Then, when you burn your disk, you don't have to worry about burning disk at once (DAO) because you'll only have one track anway!

I use soundforge- I just save the file- then drag it into a new compilation in nero- right click on the single track and go to properties or something like that- then go to indexes-
I will show the whole track and you can click at the time you want to split- then click split- when you're done - hit ok or apply or something then it will say are you sure you want to split this into this many tracks say yes then it will come up in the tracks- then you highlight all the tracks and right click properties- set the gap to 0 secs. hit ok- Burn away! (I always use disc at once)

No pops- nothing- I used to have the same problem. cue's are good too- nut easier in nero.

When you burn your CD using "Disc-at-once", are your tracks in mp3 format or in WAV format? If you disc at once mp3's, there will always be a milli-second gap between tracks. You must first take your full mix, convert it from 24 bit WAV (which is how you should be recording your mixes), into 16 bit wav, and then cut the tracks out of that and burn them in that format. Hope you understand what i mean :)
