someone will create a crack that will override that crap :p. So no one stress :D . Besides we have the hub ;) ....unless they blow that up
k.k.d.
Sorry, but the concept of technology that will remotelly destroy computers crack me up... It's just about as absurd as that National Enquirer article that floats on the net and claims that "hackers can make the computer explode and kill you!"

heh... silly silly people... :)

I'm just wondering how they could even detect that you were downloading something illegally? Let alone enforce it...

It's to farfetched to even be plausible, to me this seems more like a stunt to get himself into the news.

No matter how hard they try, how many measures they take, people will still rip off music, movies, games, software, books, and food off the internet. A pandora's box has been opened, and it's about next to impossible to close it.

Sure, the newbies who flock to spyware ridden programs like Kazaa, iMesh, and Morpheus will be the first to give up once their precious software is closed and whatnot.

But there will ALWAYS be USENET, IRC and FTP for those of us who have found other ways to get what we want other then using P2P programs.

But honestly, what are they going to do? Install some monitoring software that tracks every bit of data that goes into your computer and then checks to see if it's copyrighted? What about people in countries with no copyright laws? What about the millions of people in the US, do they actually have the manpower and resources neccessary to monitor THAT much traffic.

Like I said, it's bull. He just wanted to get into the news, a publicity stunt.

And yes, he's a ing idiot.

It'll be very scary of someday, Microsoft becomes part of this nonsense..

The government just needs to face the fact that there are more people in this world who are set to violate copyright laws than there are to obey them. Their problem is that those who want to violate them are often far more technologically skilled than those who don't.

I havent bothered reading all the replies so if Im repeating something, so be it. Let them ing come. This moron obviously doesnt know his ass from a hole in the ground, let alone the functions of a computer. Short of breaking down peoples doors and smashing computers with baseball bats, you cant "destroy" a computer over the web. You can virus it and corrupt all the data, forcing someone to format, but in the end they will be back online in an hour downloading again. It would be very simple to have a old, ty PC that you download to, then periodically disconnect from the internet (unplug the actual wire) and transfer your fresh downloads (after scanning for their "anti-music" viruses) to another computer somewhere with your huge archive that either stays off the internet or is sitting behind a huge firewall or something. The only possible way I can think of to physically damage a PC remotely is by some sort of virus that can get into your bios settings and overclock your CPU or something, causing it to overheat. I dont even know if this is possible.

But thats beyond the point. They cant win a cyberwar, period. Shut one p2p down, 5 more will replace it. Start virusing p2p's and people will use private hubs, like DC, and ftp's. Start DDoS'ing p2p servers, and the p2p's will evolve so that everyone connected will automatically turn around and DDoS the source even harder.

Hehe Hatch himself may be guilty of software piracy ... in a roundabout sort of way:

lets say for a second that the government does figure out a way to "destroy" a computer from the net...that would be there biggest mistake ever. The next thing they know, hacking becomes 1000x greater a problem. i mean do they really think people are gonna sit there and let there computers get ed. hell no, they'll start ing with everything out there...bank accounts, anything government, anything to piss off the authorities...
Moongoose
Well thats another name to my list of people that need to be hit repeteably over the face with a piece of heavy mining equipment :whip:

But im not worried though :) Even if they somehow manaage to come up with a proggy to kill your computer, can u imagine what can a million pissed of hackers, crackers and script kiddies do :)

I think that industry is not doing enough to help us find effective ways to stop people from using computers to steal copyrighted, personal or sensitive materials.

Strange that the "industry" which is losing tons of money wouldn't be trying to put a stop to it isn't it? The reason they aren't stopping it is because they CAN'T stop it. When will everyone realize this and accept this fact?

On another note, wow, this guy has a fantastic imagination. What a great creative mind to have elected to the government. Destroy their computers :haha:, did he get this solution from his kid's grade 3 class or something?
vmc
things like that can only happen in US...
