hmm, once again just an observation again... don't mean to offend anyone with this but I was under the impression that what was said before the last TA event @ System Soundbar, was that if enough support was shown, everyone would eventually get a chance to spin...
looking at the lineup I see 3 new faces and 2 of the same dj's in the lineup again...so i guess my question is how is this allowing all the TA's a chance to spin, if we have the same people coming back for the second time???????? would it not be considered FALSE advertisement on the promoters part?
I am not bashing the promoters, rather trying to figure out why we have 2 of the same acts back on again. I realize how hard it must have been to organize everything, and I am sure all TA's apreciate it including me. But I still want to know wtf is going on.... |
Well I can understand the confusion here. The decision making is normally decided upon through the different genres that are being represented, ie. trance, techno, tech-trance, prog, etc. and how many TOTA DJ's submitted demos for each. Take this into consideration, along with the fact that there are only so many TA DJ's who submitted demos for each event of which there are only so many who are eligible to actually spin, ie. they might not be 19+, whether or not they were able to fufil their guestlist requirements, they might work late that night, whether or not they're in town that weekend, prior obligations & commitments, etc. Apart from that, there is also the subjective issue about whether or not the demo submitted is a good representation of that DJ's ability to spin live infront of a crowd. This is not to say that the DJ's who have not yet spun are not good DJ's, however it is an obvious factor that any promoter would have to take into consideration in order to organize a succesful event. Unfortunately, with the time available, it's not entirely possible to have every DJ spin within a single night as much as it's desired.
And just as a reminder that I am not responsible for the selection process of the lineup. That choice is made entirely by System Soundbar, its DJ's, and its management. The fact that Tranceaddict was even given the chance to have our event held and DJ's playing there was already a huge undertaking. I know that E2EKIEL_D3 took a lot of time and effort to make it happen and we should just be thankful that this opportunity is there. What I can say however, is that it is surely a very difficult process and requires countless hours of listening to demos to allow every DJ a fair opportunity for representation. In spite of this, let me say that however possible it is for a DJ to be invited to return, a DJ is unlikely to spin in more than 2 consecutive events, so everyone will likely see a shakeup in the lineup for a future date. The fact that TA is only into its 2nd event at Systems, there will likely be many more opportunities for every Tranceaddict DJ to have a chance at playing a worthy set given the decision made by System Soundbar.
And no worries, no offense taken Armada, your concern is understandable. Feel free to PM John at any time if you have any further questions.
Just hope that helps! :D |

There aren't that many Prog. DJs who submitted demos for the events. Plus we personally invited Vagrant and DJ Mute to return for this headlining night.
Trust me, everyone will get a chance to spin in the future. It's only the second TA Night, pls be patient with this ... it's even stressful for me to arrange the time slots. |

I disagree with this statement. Considering how slow things have been in the past couple of months at System, having a TA event is the absolute least thing they could do to keep their regular TOTA customers satisfied and to keep them coming back.

things were most def slow for a while there, but i foresee good things happening w/ breahe after the relaunch. i mean, the talent that they are bringing in over the next little while is no less than stupendous, and the addition of a nimonthly resident (max!) should do a lot to raise the club's profile. so in the past, i'd say that that is true..we'll see about the future.,..

I think it's attributable to the fact that not a lot has been done to upgrade the club in terms of its technical and venue aspects from a clubber's point of view (primarily being my own) which I'm sure many of you would agree with. With the departure of Mark Scaife as weekly resident things didn't look good, but atleast with Luke Fair and Matt Coleridge filling in, all hope is not lost. Nevertheless we're still glad to be able to have our event there despite the other circumstances surrounding the club itself. |
