Record shops in New York & Boston

Anyone know any record shops in either the cities? I know there must be a lot in NYC but I dont know of any in Boston.

there have been threads on this with regards to new york if you do a search. dunno about boston.

i know of one place in boston... it's in some really small mall near harvard square... it's not a record store but more some kind of random stuff and music store...

the record selection was small but they had a surprisingly large selection of trance... good older stuff there...

I've got a friend in Boston and he says there is a great record store in Providence, RI. I'll ask him next time he's online and post up the details.

Skippy White's is in Providence, RI apparently there is another one but my friend can't remember the name. He says Skippy White's is mint though.

EDIT: Spin City Records is the other one. It may be closed for renovation though.

yea skippy white's is the only one in providence but it's not great.. it's only good because if you find something you like, it's cheap as hell- i got synaesthesia there for 1.99$

Skippy White's is on Branch Ave (right off 95) in the minimall next to Stop & Shop or some .

spin city SUCKS SO BAD omfg. ugh. thank GOD they are closed. i wanted to light a match to that sad-excuse-of-a-record-store

Boston: Boston Beat (expensive, Newbury St.) Satellite (Right on Mass. Ave.), Newbury Comics (Not a huge selection, but always steals in the bins, Newbury St.)

New York: Dance Tracks (91 East 3rd St.), Decadance (119 West 23rd St.), Satellite (259 Bowery), Sonic Groove (41 Carmine St.), Throb (211 East 14th St.), Vinylmania (60 Carmine St.)

New Jersey: Mondo Music (225 Highland Cross Road, Rutherford, NJ 07070)

My friend used to buy from their website, and I called them and the guy on the phone said they were closing. :nervous:

I don't know which are open and which arent anymore. I don't deal with them much. Just giving a list of the ones I remember and used to do business with in the past. Eight Ball was another one that was great that shut its doors years ago.
