HEy guys,

Well, things have been going well with reason lately. I have been ripping throught hte manual and learnign waht all of the different tools. This program is not so forein anymore and I am beginning to love it.

The only problem is that I have hit a snag that I can't get around. I don't have a MIDI keyboard and I have no idea how to create a melody without one since the manual I bought doesn't explain how to do this. I downloaded a MIDI "software" keyboard but I can't get it to work with reason.

Can you guys help me get around this problem? :)

I tried posting ont he reasonstation.net forum but I can't seem to post there, their server is down or something.

Can someone give me some quick advice here? :D I really don't want to get frustrated and such over such a small thing.

Thanks in advance!

well ive always had a midi keyboard so fortunately i didnt come across this hurdle.. but a lot of my friends dont have controller keyboards either..

it basically makes things a lot more slow and tedious especially when inputting notes.. the only thing you can do is when you switch to the edit mode of ur synth, you can see the screen where you input your notes and the piano roll on the left hand side. just click on each key with ur mouse to play that specific note so you know what note you need. and you basically just paint in using the pencil tool the appropriate note one by one.. its slow but i think thats the only real way to do it without actually going out n buying a controller keyboard?

So is that how you do it?

Also: how can I get bome's midi mouse keyboard (some software keeyboard i downloaded to act as a midi synth) to work, it wont connect to reason ?

Can someone explain my options here? :)

Seany_G, this may be stupid question... but U know that in Reason there is "keybord" or "key lane"?
Seany_G
Do you mean in the matrix? OR is there a seperate part?
hey cheggy
seperate part. Its at the bottom of the screen where all the channel are displayed. Click on the channel you want to make a sound with, then one of the simbols in the top left of that box. It will bring up the midi lane for that channel. I can't remember which symbol to click but there's not many of them. Then click on the pencil looking thing and draw in the notes.

I think this is right. I don't use reason that much

Yeah, there is this symbole line....There U can see symbols for "switch to arrange mode" and "show key lane" and so on...

First one is that "switch to arrange mode" and it is yellow and blue boxes...yellow top and blue bottom. And next to it is small keybord symbol...Press that one U will see the "keybord". Use that for making melodies :)

And then there is this small "window" where U can see & choose the lenght of your beat/melody note (1/16, 1/32....). And right next to that U can see small ahnd, small magnify symbol, and then a thin stick and then eraser and then PEN! Use it for drawing the notes and melodies :)

I hope U understand my English... Hope this helped.
