Going to California

Alright all you U.S. TA's, I'm gonna need your help. My family is seriously considering driving to California from where I live, which is a suburb of Chicago. We're planning to leave early August, and since we are driving, I need you guys to tell me what are some good stops to make along the way. There are basically 2 routes to get to CA, I-80 being one and another route that takes a more southern path.
So do any of you guys know some interesting, beautiful, exciting, or entertaining stops and visits there are to make along the way??

uhhh..you'll pass through the "dust bowl"
you could stop in the rockies..
then go to the 4 corners (where Utah, Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico meet) then..
head on over to the Grand Canyon in Arizona or the Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico
and then go up to Las Vegas (kinda outta the way)..just a thought.
i could go on and on and on, then take a break, and then go on some more, so i think i'll stop there. those are some major ones.

hmmm.. alright thanks...
the 4 corners thing sounds pretty cool
and i defintaely wanna stop in Vegas... but its up to the rents on that one.. ha...

Go to Bryce Canyon NAt. park in UTAh, and yellowstone/grand teton national park. Apparently the Spanish explorers were impressed by the giant mountains, so they named them the "great ." :wtf: :toothless |
