what does "tiesto" stand for?

I believe it means "flowerpot" in spanish, though I think I also read on here that Tiesto chose the name before he knew.

I also read an interview that it is derived from his real name Tijs Verwest....

Basically he took certain letters of his real name TIjs vErweST (TIEST) and then added the "o" to make it sound "italian" which to him sounded cool.

i dont think it is spanish cuz the accent on the E is not in spanish alphabet, so i am curious as well what exactly it translates to if anything

Oh for goodness sake, it was a childhood nickname that stuck. He says that in just about any interview. It doesn't mean anything other than a nickname that he took on as his DJ name.

Flowerpot is for PVD not Tiesto.
