| Hi, I know this may be a silly question to ask but...here goes. I just recently installed Cubase 5 on my computer along with a bunch of native instrument synths such as Pro-52 and Absynth to name a few. My question is how do I get my VST instruments to work so that I can program a song in Cubase? I've got as far as getting the VST instruments to show up in Cubase but I'm not sure how to record everything. It may sound kind of stupid but any help to get me started would be truly appreciated. Thank you in advance. |

Ok you selected a VST instrument (devices or select, one of the two, VST instrument, select one) and then you can press a key on your midi keyboard and it plays the VST. If you are not getting sound out then you need to select the channel on the left of the screen and see what your output is on your audio, select the VST you have opened then it should play out the VST you have selected.
Then basically press record and play what you want to be recorded, then offcourse edit it by resizing notes, etc.
Hope this helps a little, if not then state. |

| Burns, thank you so much for your quick response. I haven't tried recording yet because now there is no sound coming out of Pro-52 when I try using it. At first there Pro-52 was working fine, full sound and all, but now nothing comes out. I'm not sure what happened because I didn't press anything. Could u please explain more about what I need to press to the left, I tried several things but with no success.:eyespop: |

| Actually, don't worry about that. I got the sound to work. I'll get back to you on the recording though. |

thomas penton heard my track and said that i can improve it by far if i start using cubase, so i decided to take his advice, and so far i have reached about the same point as the original thread poster, the only diffrences is that i dont have a midi keyboard...
so basically my only question for the moment is: where can i "draw" notes? how do i get to that mode? (and please please please dont tell me that it doesnt exist.....)
thanks in advance

Create a midi channel, draw in an empty midi file. Open it up and then draw in the notes with the mouse |

Thats the MIDI click, hehehe. When you press record there should be a little box highlighted (CLICK). This helps you play in time with the BPM.
Are you pressing keys on your MIDI keyboard and getting sound out from the VST yeat ? If so then when you record you should get it to work mate, if not get back to me....Maybee if you piss around with it for 20 mins or so and if it still dont work i can help. |

| Burns, I am getting sound now but the sound that I do get is only the sound of keyboard. I hear both the keyboard/piano sound and a the Pro-52 sound when I play and record but the only sound that gets recorded is the keyboard/piano noise. Any idea of what I should do? Thank you so much for your help, everything you've told me so far has been nothing short of helpful.:D |
