I am intrested in getting a new analog synth.. I currentley have a Yamaha MOTIF 6 but i want to try something new (trance) I am willing to spend $1000 on an analog synth and i cannot find a store in my area with theese synths on display. So what do you guys think. Also i doubt this but does the JP-8000 have expansion slots? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks! :gsmile: |

Well, I personally would go with a Virus B. The C is too expensive and the few extra features, IMHO, don't warrant spending the extra cash. The Virus is a workhorse synth. By that I mean it's multimbral, has fairly high polyphony, and, if you really know what you're doing, you can duplicate the sound of any other virtual analog synth.
The JP is a great trance monster synth. The reason I suggest the Virus is that the JP is only two parts mulitimbral. The great thing about the JP is the supersaw oscillator that can do so much more than just make the supersaw lead if used in an innovative and subtle manner.
Another great synth that I didn't see mentioned above is the microQ. FOR THE MONEY, it's one of the best out there.
And remember, these are virtual analog, not analog...Just to give the proper respect to the REALLLL analogs (Juno, Jupiter, and other e most of us can't afford).
To boil it all down for you, I have a JP and a Virus, the sounds I make on the JP I can almost always duplicate with the Virus, but it isn't always true the other way around. So I say Virus!!!!
IMHO, remember. : ) |

Yeah i really shoulda mentioned i may be selling the MOTIF and i am also gettin a Mo Phatt. So i am needin somethin with keys. I do have respect for the analogs.. I just want something that will let me create and change sounds pretty niceley. I am currentley leaning towards the CS6x because i am a Yamaha guy but i aint that loyal lol |

I take it you are interested in writing hip hop? (from your interest in the mo phatt)
if so, i seriously recommend that you check this site out

take a look at the tru toolz back, and here is a quote taken from their testimonials page
"I used these drums on 8 mile. The sounds really are amazing. Never fail to keep the grit in the mix. Also, Tru Toolz hasn't failed Eminem once in inspiring beats the last couple months.. He's been using the Drums on tracks for 50 Cent, Obie Trice, D-12, Beats for artists on the Shady Records label & others. "

I had a CS6R, but as for making sounds I found it very userunfriendly. The CS6X has more knobs, but I have a feeling that a part of the synth still remains a bit userunfriendly, despite the extra knobs.
I have the same idiea as Etherium. The Virus and the MicroQ are most interesting. They are both 16 part mutlitembral I believe, and have quite a few voices. Some effects on the MicroQ are a bit unusable b.t.w, like the reverb |

Cs6x and jp8000 are totally different.. Cs6x is a sample based multitimbral synth and the jp8000 is a (virtual) analog monotimbral synth meaning you can only play one midi part. Depends on what you want. Note that there is the an1x expansion (as well as a dx7 exp) for the cs6x and well, must say an1x is a very good-sounding v analog synth (with some fm possibilities) for a wide range of sounds. Don't have any experience with jp8000 but well, armin, ferry corsten, faithless, ... says enough.. compare, go listen to your local shop and look to your budget. |

Well i found out today that the CS6x AND the JP-8000 have been discontinued. That dont make a diff in my decision though lol. Evrey person that replyed didnt reccomend 1 of the 2.. So i am going to forget about them. I dont want an access virus because they dont have a 61 key synth (or close) in my price range but i was pointed to another synth. CLICK HERE Any thoughts? Thanks! |
